Former California Governor Jerry Brown urged the U.S. not to expand domestic oil and gas production to help in the crisis triggered by the ongoing Russian war because climate change is like a war that will kill people over a long period of time.
Brown, who made climate change the focus of his last two terms in office before leaving office in 2019, has not made many forays into public debate since leaving the political scene. But he wants the U.S. to keep restricting fossil fuel production.

One of the things most Americans really need to learn.
You need fossil fuels to produce the fertilizers and pesticides used to grow your food. You cannot do it with electricity alone.
To farm, you need fossil fuel to power your equipment. You can’t do it with electricity.
To truck the product of the fields to a storage point requires fuel. You cannot do it with electricity.
To truck the product from a storage point to a processing point requires fuel. You cannot do it with electricity.
To take the processed raw material to a production plant requires fuel. You cannot do it with electricity
To run the manufacturing plant? Electricity that comes mostly from non renewable sources
To supply the manufacturing plant with all the packaging and labeling it needs? You must have fossil fuels to produce and ship them. To truck the food to the distribution center? Fossil fuel powered trucks?
To run the distribution center? Electricity that comes mostly from non renewable sources
To deliver the food from the distribution centers to the store shelf? Fossil fuel powered trucks
To supply the electricity for the electric vehicle fleet we all “should be driving” to the store? Electricity that comes mostly from non renewable sources

Why? Because just as with CV-19 and the Ukraine crisis, they demand that no one object, that everyone complies heroically, and any dissent is punished with full support from a supposedly free people.

That’s right, Moonbeam. Thank God California shut all it’s power plants. Otherwise it would be facing bombed cities, millions of refugees and tens of thousands dead.
