Russian Official Responds To US Senator’s Call To Assassinate Putin

Russia on March 4 described a U.S. senator’s call to assassinate Russian President Vladimir Putin as irresponsible.

Anatoly Antonov, the Russian ambassador to the United States, said the remarks were “irresponsible and dangerous.”

“The degree of Russophobia and hatred in the USA towards Russia is off the charts. It’s unbelievable that a country’s senator preaching his moral values as a ‘guiding star’ to all mankind could afford a call on terrorism as a way to achieve Washington’s goals on the international arena,” Antonov said in a statement released by the Russian embassy.

He also said that “It’s getting scary for the fate of the United States, which has such irresponsible and unprofessional politicians at the helm,” and demanded an official explanation and a decisive condemnation of U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-S.C.) comments.

Graham, a former Air Force lawyer, wrote on Twitter Thursday wondering if there was a “Brutus” in Russia, referring to Marcus Brutus, a Roman politician who assassinated Julius Caesar in ancient Rome.

“The only way this ends is for somebody in Russia to take this guy out. You would be doing your country—and the world—a great service,” Graham added.

“The only people who can fix this are the Russian people. Easy to say, hard to do. Unless you want to live in darkness for the rest of your life, be isolated from the rest of the world in abject poverty, and live in darkness you need to step up to the plate.”

Graham also made similar comments during an appearance on Fox News and reiterated his position on Friday morning while on “Fox & Friends.”

“I’m convinced it’s a one man problem surrounded by a few people,” Graham said.

The war could also end if Putin is charged with a war crime, Graham said, before calling for a person like an “Elliot Ness or a Wyatt Earp” to take action.

Ness helped take down gangster Al Capone while Earp was one of the law enforcement officers who killed outlaws in the 1800s.

On Putin’s orders, Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24.

Russian officials claimed the move was necessary to “demilitarize and denazify” the neighboring country, a claim widely derided by officials from other nations.

“Russia’s attack on Ukraine is a brutal, unprovoked invasion of a democracy, an ally, and a sovereign nation. It must not be allowed to stand, for it will create a precedent that unravels the international order that has kept the peace in Europe for nearly 80 years,” Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) said on the Senate floor in Washington on March 1.

In the book Myth Conceptions young "Skeeve" is in charge of one very small army facing a much larger one with a military dictator in charge. He asks his mentor "Aahz" why he can't just assassinate the leader to end the war.

Aahz explains that this sort of policy works both ways and asks if Skeeve would like to be a target of assassination himself or just fight the war.

Skeeve immediately decided to just fight the war.

You do NOT know that. You have no idea who will take Putin’s place, neither does that idiot, Graham. Calling for the assassination of a world leader like Putin is moronic unless they are PLANNING on WW3.

I am with you.

My concern is my family and nation.

Comments like this and fanning the flames of war with the other world nuclear superpower DOES NOT make us “safer”

What in the hell is he thinking? Russia is not Libya. I am not happy with what Putin is doing and feel sorry for both the Ukranian and Russian peoples who will pay in blood and misery for the egos and vanity of the elites. However, this kind of hyperbolic bomb-throwing helps nothing.

To make matters worse I truly believe it’s all about Graham and his own self-image or insecurity - it has nothing to do with my children and the future and prosperity of our nation.

“... to assassinate Hitler.”

They could have a number of times. But he was doing such a good job imploding on himself they let him live.

"I’m good with asking a loyal Russian to kill the dictator."

I'm no big fan of Graham, but I'm surprised at the reaction of both left and right to his comment. For a week, we've been getting stories praising Russian opposition to the war, including claims of tearful Russian soldiers laying down their weapons. So why is everybody pretending to be shocked by Graham's hope that some Russian dissident will get rid of Putin? If that actually happened, everyone would probably applaud.

It's the same old crap - damned if you do, damned if you don't. For years, the left has been calling Republicans stooges of Putin, so now a couple of Republicans express hope that Putin can be eliminated and THAT creates fake cries of indignation.

How about threatening NUCLEAR WAR? Is that irresponsible and dangerous enough for you Mr. Russian Diplomat?

Graham has extensive experience having objects stuck in men’s backsides.
Graham is rumored to take it at both ends.

Russian soldiers ‘surrendering’ amid low morale
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7CfoDByXso

honorable Russian soldiers are not made to invade a sovereign country maybe this is the reason why they lack motivation for war

All of the Amnesty Senators need to go away if we want to keep our country.

Rubio and Hoeven need to be replaced this year.

Graham just told the planet that it is OK to assassinate each other’s politicians.

There is only one way to properly apologize for that.

Now I wouldn’t suggest that Russia do the same with our Head of State, that would be a bad thing.

Yep, a bad thing.

Pootie should remember how Uncle Joe went out. When the pressure of being a universally-hated paranoid evil putz got too great, a stroke blew out his brain and he died helplessly lying in a pool of his own urine and feces because everyone was afraid to open his door to check on him.

Retire now, Vlad. God is watching.

Maybe Linseed could strap on a suicide vest and do it himself.
