“We’ll never forgive Russia for what they’ve done to us,” said Mykola, who has family still in Kharkiv enduring an indiscriminate Russian bombardment. “Russia has committed a crime against humanity, and we need to show that to the whole world.”...

Good hunting. Kill the russian bastards.

Both invasions were wrong, but taking only the 5% which is most pro-Russian, is a lot different than taking 100% which overall is strongly Ukrainian Nationalist.

Let’s just assume for the sake of argument that Kiev falls and the political leadership of Ukraine is taken into custody. What is the next move politically? Show trials? No trials? A bullet in the brain pan in some basement cell in Lubyanka?

What is the next move militarily to secure the country? Does Russia move forces right up to the NATO frontier? That might get dicey. If they don’t then they would seem to be conceding a swath of land to a rump-Ukrainian government and a secure basing area for a guerrilla force to rest, train & refit.

This all interlocks. If Russia makes half-measures militarily (as the US would) and treats the legitimate Ukrainian government harshly then there will be a guerrilla war that could last a long time — maybe until the next general European war breaks out.

Central and East present day Ukraine started as part of the Rus Peoples territory.
They got slaughtered by Khan and the Mongol Hordes.
Later, first the French, then Germany swept through present day Ukraine to attack Russia.

I admire their desire to stand, fight and protect their village with small arms. They will get creamed by artillery

The Rus Peoples territory is placed in a shitty location

Good questions and thoughts.

Seems you’ve covered the options up to the point of Russia just keeping on going.

The Crimea was been Russian since the time of Catherine the Great. Russia has it’s largest naval at Sevastopol in the Crimea. Russia has fought a least two wars over the Crimea. The Crimea voted to be part of Russia. The Crimea belongs to Russia, not the Ukraine.

Your lack of historical knowledge is just embarassing

here is the path of Napoleon's Grande Armee - it went through Lithuania and Belarus

Germany attacked in 2 prongs -- north to hit Moscow and Leningrad and south to Ukraine to gather the oil fields

Perhaps if you were polite and didn’t resort to name calling then I would be inclined to let the historical inaccuracies in your posts slide
