Interesting for a couple of reasons. One, that Putin’s military so badly calculated. Reminds me of Mike Tyson’s, “Everybody has a plan until you get punched in the face.” Two, it suggests that Putin will have to severely escalate the violence to save the face that just got punched, and, in the process, probably lose face.
As an aside, I keep thinking about the SOTU speech and the gaffe about surrounding Kiev but not winning the hearts and minds of the “Iranian people.”
Even if Brandon had said Ukrainian people, it’s an utterly stupid line. Do you have to even say that a sudden, violent invasion can conceivably win the hearts and minds of the attacked? Who is writing his speeches? Biden himself?

The author here seems to have a good idea, maybe through luck, but regardless if he is correct the path to end this would be to let him install his clown prince. I don’t think that can happen now. That would embolden him to go forward again. Somewhere in this is a path forward and no matter how distasteful, we need find an off ramp but I cannot think of it.

I think Ukrainian current plan to return captured soldiers is a good step that they are taking. But, unfortunately for Putin will he allow the Russian prisoners to return as the truth will be known by residents of Russia then. But, Russian citizens protests indicate they are aware of what is happening in Ukraine.
