As musicians pull out of Spotify over Joe Rogan, Jon Stewart is coming to the podcast host's defense.

The former host of The Daily Show on his podcast discussed artists like Neil Young leaving Spotify in protest of COVID-19 misinformation on Rogan's show The Joe Rogan Experience. Stewart criticized "overblown rhetoric" about Rogan, arguing he's not "an ideologue in any way" and is open to being corrected when he's wrong. When it comes to the Spotify protest, Stewart said that in general, his philosophy is "don't leave, don't abandon, don't censor, engage."

He doesn’t realize his side is not big on freedom of thought.

Musicians are not known for their skills as critical thinkers.

Don't censor, engage.

John, it's very simple: They're too stupid to engage. That's why they censor.

Liebowitz is a “comedy writer.” Although I wouldn’t be surprised if he was to claim that he is a musician, too.

Has-been singer raises an issue and gets attention.
Other has-beens see it, and jump on the attention bandwagon.
LOL

<< Stewart compared being on Spotify alongside Rogan to networks being on TV alongside Fox News, a “willful purveyor of misinformation,” >>

He felt compelled to get that BS out there to retain cred with his fellow travelers.

Right, they're just jumping on Joe Rogan's bandwagon to pimp themselves. Story old as time. Rush Limbaugh talked about it a lot when he was starting out.

Rogan has an audience, that's all that matters. I've listened to part of one of his shows, wasn't particularly impressed. But others are, so he has influence.

Joni Mitchell is a musician I respect, but her best days were nearly fifty years ago. Now she's a name, invoked by handlers who have their own agendas. Their thoughts on politics are of zero interest to me.

Guys like Jon Stewart & Bill Maher can just stay on their own side of the political/social divide. They made their bones by helping bring about the current wretched state of the left.

Excuse me, but where in the First Amendment is there a passage excluding people with an ideology?

And by "open to being corrected when wrong," Leftists mean "willing to retract everything, apologize, and kowtow at the drop of a hat."

Regards,

Well so did Rogan since for the most part he is left wing but as has been said open to other ideas unlike most.

Rogan supported Bernie but he never struck me as an activist. Mocking those with a different POV was Stewart’s stock in trade, which has led to the canceling and censoring.

This protest is a false flag operation. Spotify remittance to artists is toward the very low end for musicians. Wanting to make more money from streaming services is every creators right. The old has been just tied it to a left leaning cause to hide the fact that he left for a better paying job.

So who has pulled out? Neil Young. Like, who cares.

Any other known “artists?”

A neil young quote

“Anti-Rogan Neil Young’s past quote:

At the height of the AIDS frenzy, during an interview with Melodie Baker in 1985, Young made this offensive comment, “You go to a supermarket and you see a f—-t behind the f—in’ cash register, you don’t want him to handle your potatoes.”
