A decade ago, we created Spotify to enable the work of creators around the world to be heard and enjoyed by listeners around the world. To our very core, we believe that listening is everything. Pick almost any issue and you will find people and opinions on either side of it. Personally, there are plenty of individuals and views on Spotify that I disagree with strongly. We know we have a critical role to play in supporting creator expression while balancing it with the safety of our users. In that role, it is important to me that we don’t take on the position of being content censor while also making sure that there are rules in place and consequences for those who violate them.
You’ve had a lot of questions over the last few days about our platform policies and the lines we have drawn between what is acceptable and what is not. We have had rules in place for many years but admittedly, we haven’t been transparent around the policies that guide our content more broadly. This, in turn, led to questions around their application to serious issues including COVID-19.

Not really caving. Trying to mollify the Karens without censoring.
Huh?
“...it is important to me that we don’t take on the position of being content censor...”
In other words - Eat it, Neil Young. Eat it, Dave Grohl, etc.
So, will Spotify support or oppose the Hitlerite?
Paging Bongino etc, a new platform will take all the Intellectual Dark Web thinkers, and will charge $14.95 or whatever, or should I say paging Elon Musk. Somebody is going to make a bundle....
Spotify, you just screwed the pooch....
Throwing them the ‘proverbial’ bone... I think they want meat in the form of Rogan’s head on a platter...
It sounds to me like they’re symbolically kissing the government backside but at the same time saying they’re going to keep on with what they’re doing but create an “approved” location for covid stuff.
Anybody who thought this was medical and not political should now have to admit that it was political all along.
They can’t retroactively apply restrictions on Rogan - he signed a contract. Unless Rogan’s lawyers are fools, he will either be able to continue his podcast as-is, or walk away with Spotify’s money and find new platforms to host his podcast.
COVID INFO Hub: BBC, CNN, POLITICAL, ABC, BLOOMBERG.
So are any of the following available for open discussion or are your politicheskiy rukovoditel gonna gig any of the following?
* Is discussion of Ivermection or HCQ misinformation?
* How about the now pulled EUA for MCA's?
* How about the IV drips Rogan took, The Banana Bag, NAD, and Glutamine, is that voodoo too?
* And all the papers and data coming out about the side effects?
* You going to Gig Rogan if he goes there?
* I wouldn't **ck with him, Bongino etc, your really giving them a reason to create their own platform, and you only stand to loose revenue....
Joanie Mitchell and Liza Minelli were the last straw.
kowtowing........
“Covid Misinformation” is telling someone in 2022, that just recovered from Covid to “get Vaccinated”.
Anyone who says this should go to directly to jail.
Is discussion of Ivermection or HCQ misinformation? Yes until it isn’t
How about the now pulled EUA for MCA’s? Yes until it isn’t
* How about the IV drips Rogan took, The Banana Bag, NAD, and Glutamine, is that voodoo too? Yes until it isn’t
* And all the papers and data coming out about the side effects? Completely banned until we need it for the class action suits against Big Pharma
* You going to Gig Rogan if he goes there? Yes until we don’t
* I wouldn’t **ck with him, Bongino etc, your really giving them a reason to create their own platform, and you only stand to lose revenue.... If he leaves, he pays us. If we fire him, we pay him. Or we could just pay him to be quiet.
A very deep pocketed group will buy up Spotify, and make them Communist vanilla once more.
I remember in early 2020 where Covid threads on FR were pulled.
Censorship about this stuff is everywhere.
This is, and was never about Covid. This was about the crybullies who tried to get Rogan cancelled the first time not getting their way. They will use each and every controversy as another attempt to build a campaign against people who don’t agree with their twisted worldview, whatever it may be.
Think about the “Shock Jocks” of the 1980s and 1990s. Stern, Imus, Opie and Anthony. They got attention by being outrageous and saying things and pulling stunts that bordered on crude and offensive. The real brilliance wasn’t in making sex noises for three hours a day, though I’m sure there was a big element of their audience who loved that stuff, the brilliance was taking an idea that went against their corporate overlords and sticking it to them. Stern listeners calling into newscasts when the TV stations were running exploitive “breaking news” events of carjackings and yelling “baba booey” over the air wasn’t just childish dumbness... although it was. It was also a sign that the news stations that were exploiting events for cheap ratings thrills weren’t vetting their sources, and they hated anyone who let the general public in on the ruse.
At this moment I have the Spotify premium subscription page open. I was going to sign up for it in support of their apparently wide-open free speech policy.
This doublespeak I don’t understand. It doesn’t sound like a robust defense of what I felt like supporting, though.
