In French politics the squeeze to keep Marine Le Pen from reaching the second round of the presidential election continues.
It started with the entry of outspoken Tucker Carlson type TV pundit Eric Zemmour into the race. His outspoken views on Islam and crime drawing supporters away from Marine Le Pen. Zemmour even drew a few National Rally activists who formerly supported Le Pen into his ranks.
Then the mainstream "Right" put a female candidate Valerie Pecresse into the race. Pecresse leads the large Ile-de-France region in and around Paris....
Now yesterday a new blow to Marine Le Pen came from her niece Marion Marechal who indicated she will not support her in this year's election.
And indeed protest underway in Paris today here is a video of the demonstration there.
Out across France today protests including this one in Tours where tells us some 1300 people participated.
It looks like a crowd in the thousands gathered in Strasbourg in eastern France today...

I’m not sure I understand the headline. Are they protesting to get Le Pen out of the race, or are they protesting because other folk are trying to push her out?

My discussion of politics is about politics and it is followed by the story of the weekly protests on the streets about vaccine passports and other issues.
Two separate matters.
Having sort of read the article and a few others, my guess/impression is that Zemmour is in many ways superior to Le Pen, who is superior to the incumbent and the French equivalent of the Romneyites are hoping to run someone up the middle.
That said, that is only a guess and I stand happily ready to be corrected.
