Big Three Downplay Stumbling S&P’s ‘Worst-Ever’ First 16 Trading Days

The Dow Jones industrial average took an icy plunge of more than 1,000 points on Monday — its worst start “ever” — but ABC, NBC, and CBS chose to whitewash the shocking news and gave the story just minutes of coverage.

Bloomberg News reported on Monday that “[t]he stock market has never been down this much 16 trading days into a year.” The shocking drop of 11 percent was “the most on record at this juncture, according to Bloomberg data that goes back over nine decades.”

This is scary news for Americans already gravely concerned about job numbers and inflation, but apparently it was no big deal to the Big Three nightly news networks. NBC, CBS, and ABC downplayed the news on Monday night and almost completely ignored it on Tuesday evening.

I would like to see it drop another 2000-2500.

I think that would be an "unhealthy" correction.

re: stocks and bonds

They usually trade inversely. Not in the same direction.

The important word here is "usually". That hasn't been the case in months were stocks dropped a lot. In the past, and not that long ago, bond funds would respond in the upward direction. Bond fund NAVs are getting killed this month despite the S&P 500 being down almost 10% so far in 2022.

My AMD stock has lost about 35% in 2 months since Fed Chairman Jerome Powell stated early December that up to 4 interest rate hikes may be needed. The price is back to where it was last mid October.
I watch about 30 stocks and they are all going down down down since then. I know my stock is good so it is the economy and the democrats ruining it.

AMD has their earnings next Tuesday and it should be good as usual. If Trump was president the economy would be roaring.

Not just AMD affected so I am not to worried... AMD recovered from the chinese virus quickly as did most stocks and that shutdown our country and it still went up in a few months and continued up.
With the good quarterly results coming and the merger approved it can get back up quickly. The stock rose to it’s high in about 6 weeks so there is that possibility of recovery.

I hope the stock market can recover from the democrat party virus!
