New Yorker Staff Writer David Owen took a nosedive into eco-extremism. He argued that the refrigerator has become — wait for it — “an agent of climate catastrophe.”
Owen pontificated in a blog headlined, “How the Refrigerator Became an Agent of Climate Catastrophe,” that “[t]he evolution of cooling technology helps to explain why supposed solutions to global warming have only made the situation worse.” Specifically, he identified refrigerators, these unassuming little machines, as the vile culprits “of our unfolding climate catastrophe.” Really? Owen wrote as if refrigerators are cartoon villains who chomp on cigars while they devise the destruction of the climate. But his article is, in typical liberal fashion, a truth “catastrophe.”

And personal hygiene.
The same arguments would be used on air conditioning, which makes places like Arizona and much of Africa and the Mid-East habitable.
I don’t think you would even get local lefties on board for banning that.
It’s The Great Reset: In the immediate wake of the Covid-19 mania, suddenly we are bombarded with stories about all the things we don’t need to be happy: single-family homes; automobiles; meat; the ability to travel; children; and now refrigerators. The globalists seem intent on imposing a kind of monasticism without God. For US, that is.
Would like proof that this maroon one, does not own a refrigerator and two, does not go to places that use refrigeration. Otherwise, this maroon is just a two faced hypocrite who thinks he is, but is not, knowledgeable.
I had a left winger tell me twelve years ago that we would be made to live in caves, but the he and libs would give us candles if we were good. Here in Arizona...

Fine. He can give up his and let us know his replacement food preservation techniques.
They really put a lot of effort into this for a year or two, but eventually dropped it and went on to other things, like "deforestation of the rain forests" and "global warming."
And how did he figure you'd go without a fight? Or that he wouldn't be in caves in the dark with you?
I assume that Mr. Owen lives a refrigerator-free, and air conditioning-free lifestyle, both in his home, at his work, and in his personal vehicle.
If not then he is a hypocrite.
what about all of the heat that is generated when you apply the brakes on your car?

They want to eliminate the industrialized civilization that we have. Cars, heating, air conditioning, manufacturing, appliances, refrigeration, flush toilets (but not for themselves) and send us back to the middle ages.
I guarantee, David Owen owns a 32 cu ft side-by-side fridge.
I’ve heard people make mountains out of the heat blown out by air conditioners, as if it came from another planet, while it came from inside the building right there, apparently not doing any harm on that side of the walls.
