I think a time machine would be more valuable than a blood analysis machine. She should have stuck with the time machine.

With is testing, in a single generation, we could figure out who the father is of any pregnancy. The significance of this is to root out incese and rape of girls who report they know not the father.

I think that in the majority of cases, the father is a gangsta thug who is effectively judgement-proof as far as child support is concerned, and who is also unconcerned about prosecution for statuary rape.

My counter proposal would be to greatly lower welfare benefits to make it less viable to be a single mom. This would encourage girls to favor stable men with jobs.

Blacks used to have LOWER rates of out of wedlock kids before welfare made it more attractive to live off government than to marry a low wage guy.

Her father was an Enron exec. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Her relatives founded The New Yorker, though that was a long time ago, and they don't own it anymore.

Before she invented the time machine, she invented a self-propelled boom truck that used no fuel. Here is the diagram submitted to the patent office.

I think this CHILD (19 when she started) actually believed that with enough money she could get this to work.

Past a certain point it was clearly not going to, and that is when she should have notified investors. THAT is why she is going to jail.

She was too immature to understand she was now in criminal territory.

Really? She spoke like a baritone freak and looks like Mark Zuckerberg with a wig and eye makeup, frankly.

Intentionally lowered voice and an obsession with the sametype of black clothes. For some reason that she got in her head all that would compel investors to believe her lies, her “fake it til you make it” attitude - it did for a while. When the ‘promise’ of her machine didn’t work she had the company secretly processing actual blood samples using conventional technology machines. Hers never really worked. She’s a criminal.

“ America’s ruling elites are screw-ups.”

Apparently, they aren’t as screwed-up as the masses that still believe them and fall in line with their fascist system of control. Because they are in control still. And that control is not waning. And there is nothing truly challenging them. Nothing that is taking their wealth, control, or their lives from them.

So are they the screw-ups or is it those they rule who are the real screw-ups?

That’s one drop for one test, the same for testing coagulant. Holmes claimed that hundreds of test could be done on a single drop of blood. Impossible. Dilution alone is a problem.

Agree, totally impossible. Some seriously brain dead people must have been keeping this company afloat and this woman in designer handbags.

Between 2003 and 2016, Theranos collected more than $700 million in venture capital funding based on its promise to develop revolutionary blood tests that could be done almost instantly, with just a single drop of blood, at a fraction of the price of existing tests.

I still don't see how so many people "invested" so much money in an idea that was unlikely to work. It's not a "great idea" to imagine the technology Theranos promised. It's only a great idea if there is a strong indication that it will actually work.

Reminds me of an episode from The Big Bang Theory in which a guy who used to bully Leonard in high school got in contact with Leonard because he had a great idea and needed Leonard's help to realize it. His great idea was 3D TV that does not need glasses. However, he had no idea as to how to make such a thing possible so he was hoping a smart guy like Leonard could help him. The bully did not have a great idea. He had a dream or a fantasy, but with no way to make it a reality his idea was worthless. The only way it would be a great idea is if he knew enough to say "hmm.., if we can make x happen, then we can possibly make y happen and the result could be 3D TV without the need for glasses".

Theranos strikes me as similar to the loser bully, except they somehow convinced a lot of people that they could do something that was impossible.

The thing that is so striking about this is how I, and my colleagues in medicine, heard this story once and didn’t hear about it again until Theranos collapsed.

“Who would ever believe this nonsense” was my reaction to the story.

People believe in so many fairy tales, having lost faith in God, they have faith in “science”, except unlike God, science can’t actually do miracles, and miracles was what Theranos was all about.

Yes, I understand the dilemna; access to wealth is controlled by equal outcomes now rather than equal opportunity (for preferred groups).

I used to wonder how these people sleep at night, but now, I think they’re so convinced of their own brilliance, ie. Dunning-Krueger, that when sh!t really falls apart, they’ll be completely shocked.
