Oddly, my family has not experienced it at all. Even through Christmas. We receive everything we order and in the same time frame we always have.

Actually this is a good thing. Americans need to realize that we shouldn’t be farming out all of production to China.

Some expert on port action explained that somewhere between 50 and 70-percent of the containers leaving LA...are now empty. In some cases, the ships are demanding that a minimum of half the ship containers are this way, and the strategy from Nov/Dec in China was to hustle off the empty containers...refill them within hours, and load back upon the vessels destined for the west coast.

Went into Home Depot, Lowes and Walmart in the past week. Empty shelves are VERY noticeable. Never in my life have I seen such scarcity of many many items.

The only way to prevent this in the future is to ban all Chinese imports and start making everything we need here.

Brakes. Gotta have them. They all come from china now.

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/racatalog.php

Good prices on brand names. Many times, you can get Raybestos, Wagner, Bendix(all made in china now) delivered to your door for about the same price as the auto part chain’s store brands. Even though those good old names are made in china now, they have many decades of experience in brake parts.

They also carry OEM brands like Motorcraft, AC Delco, Delphi, Bosch. I always buy OEM spark plugs especially Motorcraft for Fords. They also have Standard Ignition, Moog steering and chassis. Timken seals, National bearings, Gates belts. TRW. All the old names. All made in china now but with decades of engineering behind them. That and I always hold out hope that one day, they’ll come back here. Slim hope I know but I feel it’s worth keeping them in business. If nothing else, their headquarters are still here so it keeps some Americans working.

Brakes, steering, suspension, belts, tune up & filters. All needed, wearable parts. Good to have spares of brake pads/shoes, belts(including timing belts), spark plugs, wipers, filters etc. They’re only going to be more expensive next year.

I replaced the heater core on my neighbor’s truck a few years back. Ordered it from Rock Auto for $45 incl shipping. Local parts store wanted $90. Rock Auto gives out discount codes and encourages sharing of them. You get 5% off which sometimes about pays for shipping. You can search the web for “rockauto discount code” and will usually find one on retailmenot.com. I’ve never not been able to find one but if I’ve ordered from them recently, I’ll have one in an email that hasn’t expired yet.

They’ve got good shipping prices and when buying multiple items, once you put one item in the cart, all other parts that ship from the same location will have a little truck icon next to them. Helps save on shipping by having multiple items come from a minimum of locations, preferably all from one location but it doesn’t always work out that way.

Most aftermarket auto parts are made in china now. The exception is things that are re-manufactured, many of which are rebuilt in mexico.

More in the endless steam of click-bait from the Gateway homo. Sending click-bait dollars to a gay 50 something year old man and his teenaged boy lover.

Way to represent those 'conservative Christian' values, folks. Way to represent.

If this will draw manufacturing and production back o our shores then a year or two of scarcity will be worth defunding the CCP. Our money is financing the biggest navy and army in the world and the spread of Chinese Belt and Road colonialism throughout the third world.

We've seen thinly-stocked shelves since mid-summer. The worst have been the drug stores. They also don't seem to know what they have in stock. The online inventory and inquiry systems are off by a country mile. Staffing is poor, so phoning ahead doesn't work very well if you're seeking a particular item prior to driving to the store.

Grocery stores are usually better stocked, but it can be spotty. Like in Iron Curtain times, there is usually something available but not necessarily a selection or abundant supply of what you came to buy. We keep a well-stocked home, rotate supplies, and top off key items regularly. We also have CSA farm shares that keep us well provisioned with locally-grown produce year-round and fruit in late summer/fall. A local food co-op stocks locally-sourced dairy and meat products and every place we go has some type of farmers' market.

We cook from scratch, and staples are usually available. We've found that our local sources are the most reliable, and they need our support. Win-win. I find that I'm cooking more and more like my grandmothers -from scratch using locally sourced staples. I would do more gardening and keep some chickens or rabbits, but we travel too much for this to be practical. We also have deer that like to eat gardens.

This is a good thing. Keeps money insidee the USA a little longer. Maybe the trade deficit will be smaller because of it

Been looking to buy a $300-400 video card for almost 2 years now.
Not really interested in spending 2 grand for 3 yr old technology at the moment.
Maybe someday......
