House Democrats attempt end-around of filibuster to pass election law using NASA bill

"A bill initially written to give authorization to NASA lease its property to others and and passed by the Senate has been stripped entirely of that language by House Democrats and replaced with their proposal to federalize elections nationwide.

-- H.R. 5746 was introduced in October by Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.), chair of the House Science Committee’s space subcommittee. The bill extended NASA’s authorization to enter into what are known as enhanced use leases, or EULs, of agency property to companies, government agencies, or educational institutions, for 10 years. The House passed the bill by a voice vote Dec. 8.

The Senate amended the bill, extending the EUL authorization by only three months instead of 10 years, and passed it by unanimous consent, sending it back to the House.

The Democratic leadership of the House, in an unusual move, then took the Senate-amended bill and stripped out the NASA provisions, replacing it with the text of two voting rights bills and now called the “Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act.” They did so because H.R. 5746 had already passed the House and Senate, so the amended version could go directly to the Senate floor without the threat of a filibuster from Senate Republicans, who oppose the voting rights legislation. They know they can’t do that and they tried to do it anyway. In the U.S. House...”Clause 7 of rule XVI, called the “germaneness rule,” stands for the simple proposition that an amendment must address the same subject as the matter being amended. The germaneness rule was adopted by the House in 1789 and has remained the same since it was last changed in 1822.”

Don’t be surprised if Build Back Better gets rammed through this way. A ban on semi automatic firearms as well.

Even with a supposed 6-3 “conservative” majority, don’t expect SCOTUS to be a line of defense against Democrat hijinx. It seems Thomas is still the only true conservative on the Court. The others simply vote like Washington Republicans.

They have no consitutional power to federalize elections.

States are expressly given the power to run their elections, not fedgov.

Piglosi and her coven of Democraps are desperate-——their thirst for power is obsessive.

This vote fraud bill treats voters of all persuasions as if they just fell off a turnip truck.

Piglosi’s misnomered “Freedom to Vote Act,” includes tax dollars to finance a permanent Dem majority, a 6-1 matching funds giveaway,“ ONLY FOR candidates meeting specified fundraising criteria.”

AND WE ALL KNOW ONLY PURE-HEARTED DEMOCRATS QUALIFY.....SNX

Democrats are terrified of even the barest of voting security measures.......even requiring a simple photo ID scares the beejesus out of ‘em.

So if Dems think the “right to vote” is so sacrosanct that they gladly destroy the norms and rules of the Senate, you’d think a minimum effort to protect voting integrity would be the least a Dem would support.

Unless they planned to cheat….......

I agree for the most part, but believe Alito to be as solid as Thomas.
