I’m still slated to go home Monday and I am looking forward to it.
There will be challenges and a lot of baby steps.
Thank all of you for your prayers and moral support.
I don’t sleep much here on the 9th floor recovery room. Decent view of downtown Columbia.
My wife got a few pictures of the snow that hit breezed through earlier.
I’ll have a mini wound vac plus a colostomy bag for a while. My damage is repairable. The surgeon has seen worse.
Every day I make a few rounds on the hospital floor.
Good luck, and please keep us posted. We care. And strength to you and your family. My Mom had a colostomy years and years ago and her strength dealing with it was just awesome. As a former nurse, i was amazed at how she dealt with it physically and emotionally.
Changing bags is a weak point emotionally for me.
The training lady has been excellent.
I’ve been listening to the Rocky theme a lot more. Yo Adrian!
Hi everyone,
I am being discharged today and have a long road to recovery ahead.
Very ragged I look in desert fatigue pants, black sweat shirt, portable vacuum pump on my shoulder and a pile of stuff that has to come home.
Between you good people and the ones I know, I got this far. My wife went above and beyond.
I have a follow up in two weeks.
Again thank you for being there.
Hi,
This is the first mass message I ever sent here.
All of the prayers and support meant a lot to me during the bout in hospital and I cannot thank any of you enough. I’ve been home almost a week and slowly getting more stable each day.
Home nurse visits have gone well checking on my wound vac and ostomy bag. I’m still getting used to both. I had a physical therapy person come by and he was impressed all things considered.
The surgeon says I’m repairable and he can make me as mediocre as before. He’s apparently fixed worse. At least that round shouldn’t require IICU and a mountain of support. A few days and a release from what I remember from the discussions.
Later next week I have my first follow-up with him.
Reversal or repair at the beginning was estimated at 3 to 6 months.
All I can do is take it day by day.
My wife has done a 1st rate job of taking care of me here and I would be sunk without her.
Many people have offered to help in any way they can. I’ve had to actually accept some. I’m an independent type and that part is tough sometimes.

He has the technology.
If his name was Rudy Wells or Oscar Goldman. I wouldn’t be sure what to think.
According to some in the know about medical types, I got one of the best.
I like the guy.
