We live in a red county, but in a ultra blue state. We received a phone call last night from someone not in our database saying their furnace wouldn't stay on longer than several minutes. Apparently hubby had gone out there at some point several years ago and gave them a 2nd opinion which saved them a LOT of money. Well fast forward to now. Hubby called them back, went over there and the first thing out of the late seventies couple was "I need to know your vax status."
Hubby said I'm not vaxxed, I have natural immunity and I will be glad to social distance. Not good enough. We need you to wear a mask (down in the basement where the furnace is) Hubby walked out.
We have been gradually purging our Covidian customers over the last year and acquired new ones that don't believe in all the gov't falderal.
Good for you! Very brave!
Interesting. Customers are important, even if they are stupid. Not sure how I would handle it, were I in your shoes.
Good for you!
THese people are completely insane and completely gripped with fear! The problem is they have zero faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! If they had faith they would not be completely paralyzed by fear of death, esp. over something with a 98% survival rate!
Who is John Galt?
You would think the couple would have mentioned the vaccine requirement BEFORE you drove out.
Sell to everyone. Buy from the like-minded. With that said, if a potential client instructed me to put on a mask, they’d find out very quickly that we are not a good fit.
We’ve found that the most Karen Kustomers are the most PITA as well. We have one well known Covidian customer whose wife is the one wearing the pants. We feel sorry for him so we continue to keep him as a customer.
The couple needs blue collar tradespeople to keep their home in good condition.
They are stuck on stupid—and not just about Covid.
Regards,
Because we live in an ultra blue state, I think the Covidians, although being in a red county (for now) believe that everyone subscribes to the training burka and JoeTOX.
Branch Covidians
I wouldn’t have even offered the natural immunity excuse. I’d have refused them outright by telling the cost to even come ‘look’ at the problem was $500..........
They can easily get serviced by a larger company and get ripped off in the bargain.
Good for your hubby. No need to appease the snowflakes.
Maybe HE should ask THEIR $hot status, before taking the call :-)
My parents trained me—to always get to know local tradespeople—and treat them with respect.
Then they will be there when you need them.
“first thing out of the late seventies couple”
These folks are prime covid material. I can see why they are concerned.
My wife is a vet. People with comorbidities and who are old call and say can someone come out to the car to get their pet.
She says sure.
My wife does not get online and belittle them. That says something about you.
As an owner of 3 companies and stiff as hell competition and ever tightning profit I make every step to satisfy my customers. If you lose them they are hard to replace.
“We’ve found that the most Karen Kustomers are the most PITA as well. ... “
I don’t own a business, but I do know from life experience that the customer is NOT always right, and some customers aren’t worth the effort. I suspect that customers that are rejected aren’t too damaging because people who know them know what they are like. So, when an objectional customer bad mouths a business, it carries little to no weight.
So, the guy was "sporting" a ponytail, a tie-dyed t-shirt, mood-ring, "Save the Whales" button, and Birkenstocks while the gal wore "granny glasses" and no bra?
Regards,
I am currently getting over my second round of COVID. I am under no delusion that cloth and paper masks serve any purpose whatsoever; however, I choose to wear a mask in public for the same reason I wear pants in the summer, to avoid freaking other people out.
Masks do serve one purpose. I have one of the world’s worst facial memories and have all of my life. I can remember just about anything I read but cannot remember faces (or even picture them in my mind). I have lived and worked in a rural county for over 25 years. I cannot walk into a local store without someone recognizing and calling me by name. 90% of the time I have no idea who they are. At least when everyone was wearing masks I had an excuse.
