Newly released body-camera footage shows the moments Houston police officer Orlando Hernandez, 25, was speeding, driving with one hand before hitting and killing 62-year-old Michael Wayne Jackson. On Dec. 4, Jackson was walking to his barber when the officer hit and killed him with his police cruiser.
The case is yet to be presented to a grand jury by prosecutors, said Dane Schiller, a spokesperson for Harris County district attorney’s office.
Looks like the cop screwed up big time. What the F was going through his mind??
What was his other hand doing?

There is another very similar incident here in Houston where an HPD officer traveling at a high rate of speed, no emergency lights on, T-bones a man taking a left turn. Killed the guy.
Allot of these incidents are so avoidable.
Arrest all of the truckers because they drive with one hand while shifting. Anyone that learned to drive with a Manual transmission tends to drive with their left hand only while there other rests on the stick shift.
Did the cop get out and issue a ticket for stepping out in front of him?
What’s the crime here? He was talking on the radio. He was wearing a hat also. I heard his siren, flashing lights I assume were on. Cops speed all the time.
Driving with one hand?
Do people actually drive with TWO hands?
Why?
Lights on and siren going. They were on a call.
It’s not like he was recklessly speeding to get to Dunkin Donuts before they closed as the headline implies.
An unfortunate situation all the way around.
I wonder if the pedestrian even noticed the police car or heard the sirens.
If the cop followed department protocol for exceeding a posted speed limit, this is a civil, not a criminal case.
It’s tragic, but lights and sirens on going to a violent incident means the cop will most likely not be charged. I have no idea why driving with one hand even enters the conversation here. People are really reaching to make cops look bad these days.
Does this police cruiser have a manual transmission?

Although they are mostly younger, way too many pedestrians these days think they have a force field of kryptonite around them when crossing the street. They don’t even look. I’d give a $500 ticket to those that push the pedestrian light and then cross before it even comes on.
Unless they are driving or learned to in Europe.
Or was a Service Technician in the U.S.
Shifting is not that hard to do.
I was/am worried about the drivers gawking at Me while driving a RHD vehicle. Double turn lanes were the worst.
People dont have to reach very far to make cops look bad these days.
Nothing is more pathetic than delusional control freaks that have to regulate everything who then whine like bitches when they have ridiculous limits on their own freedom.
We build our own prisons pal.
Don’t fall for what the media wants you to fall for. That’s the BLM narrative. Police brutality has gone down significantly in the past few decades. The difference is, we are seeing almost every instance of it due to bodycams and social media. Just because you see something more does not mean it’s happening more. But if you truly believe in the BLM narrative, I guess we will just have to disagree on that.
“Nothing is more pathetic than delusional control freaks that have to regulate everything who then whine like bitches when they have ridiculous limits on their own freedom.”
Agreed. Now please tell me what that has to do with either the subject of this article or my response to you.
Thanks,

No, but he will be operating that onboard computer system, the switch box for the siren, etc. Two hands or one wasn’t the problem.

Where I live you can be ticketed for just holding a cell phone or a radio microphone in your hand while operating a motor vehicle. The fine is $500 for a first offense. And if you kill someone while doing it vehicular manslaughter charges can and have been brought.
Why should this cop not be subject to the same laws as the rest of us?
