"The debate over whether Die Hard is a Christmas movie or not rages anew every December. Fans of the Bruce Willis action classic will likely litigate this until the end of time. That debate extends to the cast and crew, as well. Recently, another star of the film weighed in to say yes, Die Hard is as Christmas as It’s a Wonderful Life.
De’voreaux White, who played Argyle, John McClane’s limo driver, recently wrote a piece for Newsweek about his time on the Bruce Willis classic and how he landed the gig. About halfway into the column, White lays the Christmas debate bare.
“Die Hard is one of the original action-packed movies, however, it’s also a Christmas cult classic,” he wrote. “That’s what it is; Argyle said so!”
White joins a growing list of people that worked on Die Hard that say it’s a Christmas movie. That includes the movie’s writer and director. ..."

Whatever. Personally, my favorite Christmas movie is Gremlins. At least half of the movie takes place on Christmas Eve night. There’s a heck of a lot more Christmas decorations. One of the characters shares a heartbreaking story about why she doesn’t celebrate Christmas. AND the nasty vicious creatures imitating Christmas traditions (caroling etc.).
Bro, it was a Christmas party. Just like 'It's A Wonderful Life'. Is that a Christmas movie?
I agree with this. When I get tired of sugar sweet Christmas movies and my family has gone to bed, I like to watch this movie and cheer when Hans falls. Sorry folks, guilty pleasure.
“Argyle” also played the kid who Ray Charles shot at to stop him from stealing a guitar from his music shop in the movie “The Blues Brothers.”
White should know some things about classic cinema.
After all, he was the kid shot at by Ray Charles after trying to steal a guitar off the wall in the Blues Brothers.....

But yet you came here to comment.
Of course I did. That’s what FR is for.
No, that particular word was never uttered in the entire movie.
One of the best scenes in the movie.
Don’t forget the cop buying all those Christmas Twinkies for all the good girls and boys...
Die Hard is listed on a couple of movie sites as being a Christmas movie.
Okay, if I recall when all those big albums (Lp’s) of the 70s came out it was always at Christmas time (for increased sales), so I guess you could place George Harrison’s ‘All Things Must Pass’ as a Christmas album and if you want to get technical Led Zeppelin II is a Christmas album as well.
SANTA Looked alot like daddy.
XMAS is a term I associate with the Mercantile “unholy-day”.
Christmas is about Christ, even if the Universality of it all falls on a pagan solstice ritual. Christians can change that but.... churchianity holds sway.
You should be horsewhipped for speaking the words “Die Hard” in the same sentence as “It’s A Wonderful Life”.
What the HELL is the matter with you?!
Tell me idiot, what was the body count on IAWL?
When was someone hung with a chain in IAWL?
I must have missed all the explosions and murder of police officers in IAWL, could you point them out for me?
Which part of IAWL had the FBI come into Bedford Falls and take over the proceedings?
