Has there ever been a self-immolation as complete as Jussie Smollett? Beyond the imagination of Tom Wolfe. It would be good if it marked a turning point in the media-race-hustle-industrial complex, but I doubt it. Still, it might be nice if the phrase “You’re Smollettin’ us again!” caught on. One person who no doubt likes this story: Chris Cuomo. It gets him off the top headline.

I’ve had occasion to use ‘pulled a smollett’ or ‘pulled a jussie’ several times this past year.... rest assured, these fake ‘hate crimes’ happen with such regularity, there will be many more opportunities in the future.
I actually do think that it will achieve some level of common usage... what he did was that outrageous and obvious and with ‘smollett’ not being a name that is common like smith or jones, everyone will know exactly what it means. In that same vein, I’ve heard the word lewinsky used when describing a certain act....
Or, you could say:
“Lighten up. I was only Jussing.”
For once I agree with Al Sharpton- that the guilty in the Juicy Smollett case should get the maximum punishment.
