I am a fan of “Never do an enemy a small hurt.” If you are going to hit back make it hurt a lot. I’d be looking at destroying Iran’s oil terminals and pipelines. And I would be keeping quiet.
Of course, if’n I were Iran, I be selling oil and investing in industrial infrastructure and nuclear power.

The Iranians have three Kilo class subs. I’m not sure if they can get out of the Gulf, around the Cape, through the Straights, and into the Med. I am positive they couldn’t get back!
And, come to think of it, the Israelis would know they were coming.

I can only imagine how bad the conditions are on what ships Iran has. The mid-east cultures, outside of Israel, are noted for laziness and inattention when it comes to technology. Unless they hire outside help I expect their vessels to barely make it in and out of port.
