From a purely criminal justice perspective, the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse should be only about a specific period of time that began perhaps 30 seconds or so before he fired his first shot through to the moment he squeezed the trigger for the last time on that evening in Kenosha, WI. Beyond that, though – and beyond any legal considerations – lies a swirling and bubbling cauldron of nuance, symbolism, and, of course, politics. Though it may seem, on the surface, that those who wish to see the 18-year-old convicted view him as being on the wrong side of a political struggle, it could go deeper than that; this young man – whether the jury ultimately agrees or not – did something the left thinks no private citizen has the right to do; he acted in a manner he believed necessary to defend himself.
Outside of the courtroom, this is no mere matter of laws that regulate the use of deadly force. This is an assault – no pun intended – upon the most fundamental human right that has ever existed; the right to protect oneself against physical harm. Self-defense, being integral to survival, is the very core of individual liberty, for if one is not permitted to protect and defend oneself, then one is not truly free. That is, in a nutshell, why leftists reject the Second Amendment and why they want Rittenhouse to spend the rest of his life in prison; to teach the rest of us that we will not be allowed to take our personal safety and the security of our families and friends into our own hands; that, quite literally, we should not be permitted to ensure our own survival.
The survival instinct is the strongest force driving every living organism...

We would NOT be having this trial or discussion had the Kenosha Police Department not been told to Stand Down and allow the Soros/DNC inspired Communists of BLM and ANTIFA to RIOT, LOOT, BURN and wreak havoc in Kenosha to begin with.
The Mayor, Police Chief, City Council and DA of that community are fully responsible in their DERELICTION OF DUTY and deserve to be held to full account for creating the situation where ordinary citizens were put into the position of having to protect their community.
I observed on MSN a meanness I just didn’t expect.
“Crocodile Tears”
“Active Shooter”
I mean, I get it. The spin. The rest of it, but they got personal against a 17 yo boy who was forced to defend himself to save his life from the savages the MSM back.
It was gutless and cruel at a level I didn’t see coming and not much surprises me.
> he acted in a manner he believed necessary to defend himself <
Wikipedia is a leftist site. Everybody knows that. But Wikipedia’s description of the event surprisingly supports the above comment.

I used to think that ADA Thomas Binger was basically “play acting” so get the case thrown out or to cause a mistrial, eliciting a “don’t blame us, we did the best we could against the racists in charge.”
I now think that he is a true believer, and simply can’t understand how anyone could not possibly see the world from his point of view.
And Kenosha WI is no Milwaukee or Chicago, in terms of their judicial system.
If this small town judicial system is that far left, what are other small towns and communities’ legal systems like across the country?
YES, the time line is important. The law speaks to “last resort” and the ADA acted as though there was so much time for KR to do all sorts of other things before he fired. Some even make an issue that a pistol would have been more appropriate, as though he should go home and get a smaller gun.
Actually, I'm surprised that it surprised you.
The Kenosha government is a family of democrats!

Often, a bartender and bar owner, too, are considered responsible and held liable for all consequences of the ‘one too many’ they poured, especially the one for the drunk driver who then mowed down the sidewalk full of Christmas shoppers on his way home from the bar.
And so, too, that night with those stepped aside from responsibility and duty and let the chit hit the fan.
They are responsible for the consequences of, from and due to their dereliction of duty and refusal to do what citizens rightly expected them to do.
When it mattered most, they bailed on duty and watched the games from a safe distance, instead … and still are?
Notice the F. B. I. had a drone up with high res video. Likely had these all over the country recording the criminality. Where are the cases? Who has been charged?
Kyle’s case is telling the normies to stand down, let them loot and riot, and if you dare stand up your life will be destroyed. Just like the 1/6 protestors.
A color revolution occurred in America that year. People are just waking up to it.
The prosecution tried to establish that kr had a “depraved and indifferent” mindset, and that he went “looking for trouble” because he played video shooting games, and decided to be a vigilante. That was the only hope the lrosecutiin had, and as such, The prosecution failed miserably, and even their own witnesses turned on the prosecution and made the defenses job just that much easier.
This case should have never even gone to court. There was nothing to indicate anything other than the fact that Kyle had to defend his life against a murderous crowd. The left wanted this to be the spark that erupted into an inferno of riots in the streets, but it is clear that Kyle did nothing wrong, and it’s also, clear that this was never the racial issue that the left tried to portray it as. The left are looking for a spark, any spark, to “justify” (in their minds), their looting and burning and even murder. Its been awhile since they have been a.,owed by police to burn loot and murder, and they are getting restless again, and we’re hoping this trial woild be the spark
“[I]t is clear that Kyle did nothing wrong[.]”
Not only that, he did something absolutely just and right.
Exactly. He counted the cost, and didn’t even hesitate 5o ho out and try to defend people’s businesses from the domestic terrorists antifz and blm.
A lot of folks refuse to say “he’s A Hero”, and they vehemently declare “he had no business even being there in the first place, but those folks woild rather sit back and do nothing and allow antifa and blm to drive them out for their homes and cities. But not Kyle, he said “nope, not gonna happen”. He stood up for the city, and he stood up for our constitutional, rights despite the danger to himself. If that doesn’t make him a hero, or patriotic, I don’t know what does.
The cops refused to protect the city, the mayor’s refused, the governors refused. Kyle stepped forward and did what he could despite the danger.
[[Exactly. He counted the cost, and didn’t even hesitate 5o ho out and try to defend people’s businesses from the domestic terrorists antifz and blm.]]
Ugh, small keyboard
Exactly. He counted the cost, and didn’t even hesitate to go out and try to defend people’s businesses from the domestic terrorists antifz and blm.
It is clearly about scaring the rest of us into choosing not to use our firearms to defend ourselves since even if we are right, we will be destroyed by government with the warfare technique called lawfare.
Love it.
Prepare thoroughly by having the name and address of the local Soros Foundation puppet in hand when you defend yourself.
The answer is PLENTY. Soros has been buying DAs and Judges all across the fruited plain for years, now.
I have long held the opinion that everybody who is on the Federal Taxpayer Funded Payroll, elected or otherwise, should be held to the terms and conditions of the UCMJ just the same as those who wear the uniform are.
I have seen no argument to counter my position on this.
