There is a curious story out this weekend on reported FBI raids of writers or associates of Project Veritas, the conservative investigative journalism outfit. Project Veritas has been described variously as “Gonzo” or “guerilla” journalism and some insist it is more of a political than a press organization. However, it fits the definition of journalism, in my view, and that makes the raids troubling. All the more troubling is the cause: the missing diary of President Biden’s daughter Ashley. The New York Times reported that the FBI searched two locations in New York in search of the “stolen” diary that went missing days before the 2020 presidential election. Project founder James O’Keefe questioned how the Times received the story within an hour of the first raid.
O’Keefe says that the organization actually received a tip that the diary was abandoned in a room, an allegation that harkened back to the abandoned laptop of Hunter Biden. However, Ashley reportedly insisted it was stolen.
The use of the FBI is also reminiscent of the still unexplained use of the FBI when Joe Biden was Vice President to search for a gun owned by Hunter Biden that was discarded behind a restaurant.
Project Veritas decided not to run the story because it could not verify that the diary belonged to Biden. (The FBI may have just offered that confirmation). Instead, it alerted the police, according to O’Keefe: “Project Veritas gave the diary to law enforcement to ensure it could be returned to its rightful owner. We never published it.”
So why the raids? Since when does the FBI conducted raids over missing diaries?
The FBI can cite the interstate elements of the alleged theft as raising a federal crime. However, what is the crime? It is not clear if they are suggesting that the responsible parties were seeking to sell the diary or that there was some national security element (which would be bizarre since Biden’s daughter was writing before her father ever became president).
Journalist organizations are routinely given material removed from businesses, agencies, or private owners without permission by confidential sources. If this is a federal crime subject to FBI raids, what happened to the new media policies of the Biden Administration after the Tucker Carlson controversy?

If Tiffany Trump’s diary had been stolen and President Trump had sicced the FBI on the organization that received it, he’d have been impeached again and probably convicted and removed.
Sounds to me as if members of the Biden family have serious problems with remembering where they left things.

They were just around here a little while ago. Before Biden got into power.
I would believe that the FBI stole the diary, and sent it to Veritas to get their search warrant to bust up the place. A FISA search warrant would be too risky.
And he obviously can't remember to wipe his butt.
Now certainly to the Left, which is based on lies and corruption and naked avarice and dividing and manipulating people, this honesty and exposure is clearly a horrible thing. So the FBI raid is just self defense against this right wing extremism. Also expecting the FBI to be above board and not doing this for corrupt reasons is shoving our ideas of honesty and integrity down their poor little Leftist throats, and we should know better and respect their defending themselves the only way they know how.

They want his computers, hoping they are chock full of future O’Keefe exposes info so they know who Jame’s contacts are, who works in his organization (for future raids by FBI) and to gather any dirt they hope to find on Dems to stop O’Keefe from publishing and disseminating more corruption/graft by liberal Dem politicians, operatives, staff members, etc., undercover work already in progress.
It’s time that anyone that might have dirt or info that might by of interest to the Biden Admin, or are well known for speaking against or publishing negative info about the Biden regime, completely backup their computers daily, and remove them from their living spaces to a separate safe place.
If necessary, farm out their computer contents to other living quarters than their own (a friend, relative, whatever) as all of those vocal opponents to the Biden regime risk having the FBI show up on their doorstep at some point and take their computers away with all of their contents that will end up in the hands of the enemy. They are ruthless and protections against these raids must be taken.
If the fbi comes knoxking, it means it is just your time. I recommend one acts accordingly.
Thing is, it was not all that long ago, that this would not be a story. Because The Authorities would have accepted the diaries, that would have been it as far as Project Veritas was concerned. The Story would have been Someone tried to run a scam on Project Veritas, it didn’t work...end of story. Alas That was Then, This is Now.
It will be interesting to find out just Who it is who got this diary, and is it Real. I am Not making any accusations or pointing in any given direction, but......
James has been doing this for quite some time, and after the New Orleans incident, he has wised up. I see this, the question is “What Were They Thinking?” It seems to me these people (And I’m NOT pointing fingers at anyone!) are no where near as bright as they think they are.
The type of motive you describe is disturbingly plausible. I don’t like despising people, but it is getting so very hard not to despise the Swamp as they are getting more and more wicked. Still hoping the cure is sunlight, that the more they crack down the more people will see what they are and oppose them. Guess it’s coming down to a matter of the courage of the typical American to risk being a target of the totalitarians.
