If you are skeptical about this method of cooking bacon then I suggest you try it for yourself. Believe me, it makes a YUUUUUUGE difference. Brittle bacon is something I hate.

And you can drink the water when you’re done! (Crispy bacon is bacon wasted. It needs to be a bit . . . flabby.)

I like to cook dried beans with bacon. if i’m feeling decadent, I’ll throw in some black jack molasses when they’re done.

I tried water cooking bacon a few times. It is crispier but has a more burnt flavor.

1) Cook bacon the regular way in the fry pan, paying attention to take it out before it gets too crisp
2) Cook eggs in the bacon fat, set aside
3) Take baked potato from last night, slice, and fry in bacon fat. It will soak up the fat.

Does this method affect the seasoning of a cast iron skillet? Looks like cleaning the pan is going to take more effort/time?

I love brittle bacon.
Here’s the best method around.
Parchment Paper is the key.
place bacon on parchment paper.
Then on microwave safe ceramic plate.
fold the paper over the bacon so all sides are covered (keeps the grease splash down).
Cook 3-7 minutes (depends on power of MW and # of bacon slices)
When done. Shake the grease around to cover the bacon
Let set for about 2 minutes.
Enjoy.
Best bacon ever. But you need to practice to figure out the timing for your microwave and # of bacon slices. # type of bacon.
