It shouldn’t be news that a man who believes the Fourth of July is a celebration of white supremacy has other ignorant takes on American history. But the left has made a hero out of former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, so his effort to compare the NFL draft to slavery in his new Netflix special is noteworthy.
(Excerpt) Read more at msn.com ...
There’s a cricket league in England that does, as well as other leagues around the world that have had drafts but no longer do.
I can’t imagine his parents don’t regret not picking the Guatemalan orphan instead.
*If you are incapable of grasping the difference between a sports draft and true slavery, you are indeed stupid.*
Please tell me what you really think.
Muhammed Ali: “I’m glad my grandaddy got on that boat”. Does that make it ok? He didn’t have to pick up a weapon had he allowed himself to be drafted. Hindsight is 20-20. You’ll see things eventually. I’m working on you.
and he even sued to get back on the plantation...
We need to defund and outlaw all sports scholarships, permanently. If the NFL wants its "talent" given an "education" (complete with ringers to take their tests), the NFL can pay for it. Same goes for the NBA. And no more public funding for professional sports arenas.
First, you put a single sentence from Muhammed Ali together with your own words that I put in italics above. Ali meant something entirely different from the spin you put on his words.
Second, the military draft, or conscription, is vastly different from being drafted by a sports team.
Drafting someone for a sports team (and by the way, the NFL isn't the only league to do so) means you have the opportunity to be hired by that team. You can turn it down.
When someone is drafted for military duty, he is not being hired for a job. He must comply or go to jail (or worse). Ali was convicted of draft evasion and was sentenced to 5 years in jail, along with a large fine and a ban from boxing. He appealed the conviction and it was overturned by the Supreme Court.
At this point I don't know if you really are this ignorant and stupid, or if you are a troll (could be both). Either way, you are doing yourself no credit with this ridiculous debate about the NFL draft being akin to slavery. If it's "slavery" to earn $10 million a year for playing a game, I would "get on that boat" too if I had the talent.
White privilege. /S
Seriously, the sports drafts are all voluntary, and everyone who plays a sport has the right to refuse to sign with the teams that drafts them. They might have to sit out a year or two, but they can become free agents.
Notice, though, that very few draftees refuse to sign. Why is that? Because they are very well compensated. Slavery? Really? C'mon Kaepernick!.
except they do not have to play for the NFL, and get paid millions of dollars. They have asked for the job knowing the rules and how the selection process works. Purely voluntary. and Kaepernick begged some/any team to sign him up. If he had any, any value a team would have given him a try.
They do not have to sign contracts or participate at all.
If this is slavery please sign me up. I need the money.

And if someone else wanted to pay you $20 million? Where’s your freedom?
If the legality of the NFL draft were put in a courtroom I doubt you’d put a penny on the NFL winning.
When Colon Crapperdick shows me the scars on his back, I’ll listen to his poor negro bullshite.
Well those are the best damn PAID Slaves this side of the middle east!
My freedom would be to decline the $10 million offer and put myself out there in free agency. A person drafted by a sports team has agency. He can make choices. A slave does not have agency and cannot make choices without risking death. And while you're on your high horse about how being drafted by a sports team is somehow akin to slavery, try reading this article: Former NFL player tears into Colin Kaepernick for comparing NFL Draft to slavery: ‘Evil, anti-American spirit’

Doesn’t work that way. If you don’t know I’m not gonna tell you.
When he was drafted by the Baltimore Colts in 1983, John Elway refused to play for them. In 1986, Bo Jackson refused to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when they drafted him. It isn't common, but it does happen. In this country, we are still free to make our own life choices. That includes people who play sports at the highest level.

It’s the EXCEPTION my friend. Jackson was great at both. Elway? They shoda called his baseball bluff. OJ didn’t have that option(when he was a good guy). Wanted to play for the 49ers. The NFL(deep state) got to him. 3 years laster he proclaimed “I love Buffalo” If u believe that you’ll believe he was set up.
