It shouldn’t be news that a man who believes the Fourth of July is a celebration of white supremacy has other ignorant takes on American history. But the left has made a hero out of former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, so his effort to compare the NFL draft to slavery in his new Netflix special is noteworthy.

Yeah, I remember reading that slaves had a union.>s
flood was a different case...he argued against the reserve clause.
This is not slavery. If you want to play pro ball, you play by the rules that were negotiated by the union with management. That is what is it. This jerk Kapernick cannot even spell union.
Our local franchise here is Jacksonville. They are a horrible team. When a decent player emerges here, they dog it till they get cut or traded. Were it “slavery” that would not happen. I feel sorry for the guys who truly play hard here with the knowledge the team is going no where for at least five years due to the incompetent front offices they had for 20 years.
Kaepernick is running out of cash, that’s all
He’s got only one advantage left, and he’s going to leverage it for all its worth. Otherwise, its working at Chipotle for him
They have to wait a while if they don’t want to participate.
The players know they have “value” and thus, the teams will trade on their perceived value (since they’ve never taken a snap in the league.)
Malden I’m isn’t right about jack s***. And he’s a damn hypocrite. His current employer, Nike, is beholden to China who CURRENTLY uses slaves. He’s contributing to the slave lifestyle. F the guy.
Friend is such a card. /s
This pride of Lions is fed soft food and warm milk only.
Kapernick is right on this one. Remember Curt Flood? The athletes have no choice where they work or how they get paid. The NFL draft is illegal on the face of it.
***************************
Sure, they have a choice. They know the rules going in. If they don’t like them, get a real job.
Some high-schooler ought to challenge the legality of the draft. 18 year-olds have just as much right to earn a living as a a 22 year old that got free training in the college(minor league) system.
**************************
What’z stopping them? Haven’t you ever heard of a walk-on?
You, apparently, are not sufficiently educated to know the difference between slavery vs. voluntarily participating in a method used to allocate talented athletes to a limited number of entities that can use those talents while at the same time making the athletes multimillionaires. Those athletes voluntarily train their entire lives for the opportunity to be drafted into the NFL. And you call that "slavery."
True slavery is the practice of forcing a person to work for no pay; to obey all commands from a master or risk severe punishment; to be bought and sold like livestock; and to lose all freedom, even the most basic of personal life choices.
If you are incapable of grasping the difference between a sports draft and true slavery, you are indeed stupid.
Yep. At the combines the overseers use stopwatches and tape measures instead of whips. If you don’t perform, no money, no food. Kaepernick has a point
*********************
Did you forget the sarcasm sign after your post? Are you actually with a straight face comparing a tape measure to a whip? Why should your employer pay you if you can’t perform ?
This so-called “slave” turned down a multi year. $50+ million contract extension from the 49ers. He’s a slave to his own stupidity and arrogance.
Could it be they understand it’s part of the business model of the NFL, to allow the worst teams a better chance to be competitive?
Nobody, but nobody pays any attention to Colin Kaepernick except a few slow individuals. Anybody with an IQ above 80 stopped listening to him when he was so stupid as to get bounced by the NFL.
They should be required to pick some cotton as restitution.
Hmmm, the last time I checked the NHL has a draft. As does the Canadian Football League. As does the Australian Football League. Or do these not count as countries?
Canada isn’t a real country, anyway. Now I did not know Australia did the draft thing, so I guess I stand corrected.
