Black women in San Francisco arrested way more often than white women, report shows
Black women in San Francisco are disproportionately arrested compared with their white counterparts, according to a new analysis of state arrest data from the Center on Criminal and Juvenile Justice.
Black women represent 5.8% of the city’s female population, but accounted for 45.5% of all female arrests in 2013, according to the report from the nonprofit, which works to reduce incarceration. For arrests related to weapons and narcotics—both felonies—black women made up 77% and 68% of all female arrests, respectively.
Black women were arrested “at a per capita rate 13.4 times higher than women of other races,” says the report. San Francisco’s overall black population declined from 60,515 in 2000 to 48,870 in 2010.
San Francisco is one of the bluest, most left wing cities in the entire country.
And it’s also one of the most racist.
Individuals are arrested for breaking the law.
And of course this is because of racism and not because black women commit crimes at a rate “13.4 times higher than women of other races”. (sarc)
Yeah, where’s the...(now what is that word that’s become so fashionable lately?)...equity.
Even black cops across the country say that blacks commit the preponderance of all types of crimes.

I think this is looking through the wrong end of the telescope.
I have noticed over the years that it seems black women are overwhelmingly represented as the demographic most likely to get arrested for shoplifting. Not white wome, not white men, not black men......but black women.
It’s as if is their “speciality” or something.
Right; in my area that is the case. Blacks from neighboring Newark and Jersey City are constantly being arrested looting our Wal-Mart.
Our town leadership, to their credit, built it in an unoccupied swamp far from the residential area - as though they knew it would become an attractive nuisance to our unassimilated permanent underclass.
I live only about a mile from a Walmart but I travel in the opposite direction about 8 miles to shop at a slightly more rural Walmart for the express purpose of avoiding all the drama from the detainees often held up near the entrance plus all the unassimilated folks with all their less than civil behavior as well.
Yes, I know some who do the same here; they drive several miles northwest to a more civilized area to shop at the Wal-Mart there.
I’ll go to the local one probably once a year for something, but it is very early in the morning; it is fine at that time. My problem is the sheer mass of people that shop there; there has been massive trafficking of Thirdworlders to my area as the Americans and their employers leave, and they all shop there as well.

This “analysis” is pretty superficial. A major deficiency in it is that it treats each category of felony or misdemeanor as an individual offense committed by a unique individual. However, it takes no notice that single incidents may result in multiple offenses being charged. So, there may be three, four, five separate charges arising from a single arrest. That would drop the arrest rate.
Another deficiency in the analysis is not accounting for repeat offenders because of San Francisco’s notoriously slack attitude toward prosecuting minorities and other favored groups and classes. There are frequent news articles concerning “catch and release” of criminals and the plain refusal by the police to respond to “low level” crimes because the city DA wont’t pursue the charges to conviction. Taking that into account would lower the probability of arrest as well.
The analysis also fails to factor in the effect of the city’s diminishing black female population in artificially raising the percentages. Simply put, 10 crimes per 1000 population is going to produce a rate of .01%. But if the base population decreases to 600, the same 10 crimes now produce a rate of .0166%, an increase of 66%. Then, if you just report the increase (but not the actual numbers), suddenly crime is up 66% when there has actually been no increase in actual numbers.
This report does contain one interesting chart that should have prompted further investigation. Why is the arrest rate for minority women so much lower in the rest of California when compared to San Francisco?
But, alas, that would just muddy the picture the report’s authors were painting of a racist SFPD.

Couldn’t the article have discussed some of the reasons behind the discrepancy in arrests? The absence of such discussion means the implied reason is racism which I doubt is the whole truuth.
