The U.S. Department of Justice this week issued a rare and pointed clapback against President Joe Biden after the latter expressed a desire to see prosecutions in connection with the Jan. 6 congressional investigation.

Asked on Friday what should happen to individuals who defy the subpoenas of the Jan. 6 commission, Biden said, "I hope that the committee goes after them and holds them accountable criminally."

Pressed further on whether the Department of Justice should prosecute such individuals, Biden argued that it should.

DOJ spokesperson Anthony Coley subsequently responded to those remarks by saying in a statement: "The Department of Justice will make its own independent decisions in all prosecutions based solely on the facts and the law. Period. Full stop."

The issue of defiance of congressional subpoenas was raised this week when former Trump strategist Steve Bannon's lawyer said the conservative commentator would not comply with the Jan. 6 commission's subpoena, raising the possibility that Bannon might be held in contempt and potentially face criminal liability.

The Dems love to put their fingers on the scale and then argue it’s the other side that is fraudulent.

The DOJ has no credibility left. Performance art like this won't restore it.

I highly that was a “stinging rebuke”. 99% certain that was a for public consumption empty statement of claiming to be impartial and unbiased and independent.

Don’t trust them but they got their fingers burned by sicing the FBI on parents. Treading softly but still don’t trust them. Lets see what happens with those folks who stormed the federal buildings last week.

The DOJ is not independent. It is an executive level branch under the direct supervision of the president who can direct investigations started, stopped, or even personally conduct them. Full stop.

This independent DOJ fiction is and was a weapon used against Trump.

I can see them making this statement for several reasons:
1. Theater for the ignorant to pretend the DOJ is interested in justice, while their "independent" conclusion just so happens to line up in the end with Biden
2. 2022 and 2024 are on the horizon, and there is a good chance the adage of "turnabout is fair play" comes into effect, except in the case of Democrats and their ancillaries, there are real crimes, not made up political ones
3. A few in the DOJ may be realizing that to continue Third World "justice" is to invite a situation where the "natives are restless". Where they're looking at the 2020 election map and its looks a lot like Afghanistan just before the Kabul evacuation.

I think it was a temper tantrum that fully exposes who really runs our government.

Not the president

Not the congress

The bureaucrats

Hmmm, my take on this is that this is what happens to you when you do not lick the boots of the Deep State. Not even Dems are immune.

Yeah, don’t be fooled by that statement. Their decision will mirror Biden’s desires to a T.

That was on full display in the absurd phone call impeachment. “HOW DARE THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE NOT TAKE ORDERS FROM THE BUREACRATS?”

The fact the DOJ IS NOT proud of being called 'Butt Boys For Biden' is a step forward...

No one "stormed the federal buildings last week". There were totally peaceful, lawful and constitutionally protected free speech exercises last week. ABCNNBCBSNPR said so.................
