Alabama has only lost three football games over the last three seasons. By any measure or accounting, and no matter what you’ve read or heard this week, that’s an incredible run.
But, y’all, we gotta talk.
We need to discuss some things because more losses this season could be on the way. No.5 Alabama, after all, is no longer the favorite to win this season’s national championship. Chances are good, in other words, that at least one more loss is coming.
It’s just math, but right now we need to talk about our fellow citizens of Alabama becoming statistics.
After two of Alabama’s three most recent losses, fans gathering together for the games have gotten into arguments that ended with someone being shot and killed. It happened in 2019 after the loss to LSU, and then it happened again on Saturday after Alabama’s loss to Texas A&M.

I used to sell equipment into the chemical plants in S. Alabama. There were two weeks I knew that no one would be around. The week before the Auburn game and the first week of deer season. Oh, I know it.
My ex was from Dothan.

"Two people shot and killed in the whole state constitutes 'a bizarre and tragic pattern of violence following Alabama football losses'? It’s a safe bet that alcohol, or drugs, or both were a factor in those shootings."
It's a safe bet that alcohol, or drugs, or both are a factor in how a "journalist" thinks two occurrences equals a "pattern" when there are many other patterns of violence occurring at a much higher rate than two.

Attended The OSU in the middle of "The Ten Year War" with the U of M (TTUN). There were incidents of violence. The Ohio State Marching Band being pummeled as they came through the tunnel into Michigan Stadium, and an unfortunate Michigan driver who drove past barriers on High Street, brushed a couple partiers, and got dragged from his car and beaten for his faux pas, for examples.
So I can understand the passion. But having once been crazy and recovered, and understanding the feeling of those still afflicted, doesn't mean I think crazy is OK.

Back in early 80s I flew with my instructor to Chattanooga and back to Bham. When we got into the pattern we were number 6 to land. It was the day of the Alabama LSU game at Legion Field. Looked like a billion plus in airplanes all over the ramp...couldn’t find a spot to park...so Alabama fans have stiff competition from LSU!
