America is badly divided. The evidence for this sad state of affairs abounds.
For the record, I know a bit about countries in various degrees of separation. I was closely affiliated with the Brexit movement in the United Kingdom, which saw it leave the European Union.
....
So, let’s honestly consider the present state of affairs in our own country.
Red states versus blue states. Democratic socialists against nationalist conservatives. Those in blue states want a different constitution, more left-wing states, the end to the Electoral College, the packing of the Supreme Court, defunding the police, and wokeism based on identity politics as the default ideology. They oppose American traditional values, religious pluralism, and generally feel shame about sharing a country with their fellow citizens in flyover country. They no longer want to have the America we know and love.
I say let them go; or let us go from them. Divide and avoid a coming clash. This is a risk-reward scenario and, while there are downsides, the upsides of a divorce outweigh all of the costs. This is not secession in the 19th century sense of the term—it is a mutually managed separation: a good outcome. There is little that is satisfying about it, but it may have become a necessity. In economics we call this the second-best option, ceteris paribus.
Other pundits on the Left and Right are coming to the same conclusion. They say we’re ripe for a breakup.

We are and must remain the UNITED STATES of America.
Why?
More division, means divided families too. ???? Do we really want that?
Poppycock.
There is no way to divide the red and blue states into separate countries...They don’t all align with each other...
*Love the idea
If the Dems would simply honor the founders vision of a federalist system we would not be having this discussion. But they won’t. They believe in a strong authoritarian central government like the Chinese have.
Yes, because a divided America will fall easy prey to the Globalists and/or the Chinese.
Divide and conquer is a very old and very powerful strategy.
As soon as the social security and Medicare promises are broken, the Union will collapse like a house of cards.
In this “great divorce,” where do the blue, highly populated counties in Florida like Broward and Palm Beach (where DJT lives) go? Kinda hard to divide the country when true “red” and “blue” states are a minority.
Currently, we are the UNITED States of America in name only.
Our best hope is for the New York Times to “come to Jesus”, but that “ain’t gonna happen”.
Dollars to donuts that the overwhelming majority in rural America are fair minded, peace loving individuals. The bulk of “blue state” problems lie in the big cities where corruption and graft rule.
Primarily concentrations of immigrants and first generation arrivals and long termers who will never assimilate. What would you do with Illinois or Michigan or Arizona.
National Divorce due to Irreconcilable Differences will happen.
There is no reason for thinking persons to suffer under this arrangement any longer. Why live with those you hate, and with those that want you dead?
You can choose to be free.
Civil War is not required.
It’s already here.
The mechanics of formality just need to be worked out.
Politicians hide themselves away, they only started the war, why should they go out to fight, they leave that all to the poor.
. Time will tell on their power minds, making war just for fun. Treating people just like pawns in chess, wait til their judgement day comes.
I don’t believe this article was serious. It was satire. There is no practical way to “divide” the union legally. That was the point of the Civil War.
What we can change is the dependence of the red and blue states on the distribution of power and wealth controlled by the centralized Federal government. Federal programs that mandate how local issues like education, health care, criminal justice, and social welfare need to be phased out and returned to their respective states. Draining the power at the federal level will bring the power back to state and local control where diverse communities can work out their differences with their neighbors. People can then vote with their homes, families, and businesses where they want to live.
The hard part is getting the moderate independent center to vote in large numbers for the devolution of Federal power. This is what real populism is about.
We already have that.
“because a divided America will fall easy prey to the Globalists and/or the Chinese.”
As if that hasn’t already happened 🙄
