A female activist (along with a college, who is filming) approaches a female United States Senator teaching a class at a public university in Arizona and follows her into the ladies’ restroom to lecture the Senator about federal legislation the Senator will be voting on. Is this an issue of “free speech” on public policy protected under the 1st Amendment or is this a case of improper harassment and filming, contravening Arizona criminal statutes?
In an article entitled The Puzzling Oversight Hearings Regarding the Withdrawal From Afghanistan, I posited that, “By design, 1,000 puzzle pieces of our national puzzle are now being thrown out to the public in the form of one disaster after another in order to encourage citizens to throw up their hands and give up on determining causality and accountability.”
The ladies’ restroom incident is one of those 1,000 pieces being thrown out there. It is worth examining closely.
For such a prized political right, the 1st Amendment’s “Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech” is difficult for many Americans to understand. Commentators struggle too.
The Supreme Court has endless rulings about this phrase in the Constitution and jealously guards the right to free political speech. If speech on public policy is curtailed, the reason for its restriction must be compelling. Does this protection extend to public policy speech in the ladies’ restroom at Arizona State University?

They save money by not hiring editors.
The two-tier 'justice' system in full effect.
It’s neither free speech nor harassment. It’s criminal activity — a felony, IIRC, especially if a camera is involved.
Free speech has been bastardized.......
Sinema is Deep State.
Still think she was in on it.
Correct. There isn't enough money in most Internet publications for dedicated editors who carefully overlook the publication of each article.
The sheer volume of articles and the low profit margins do not allow it.
I wouldn’t know, I wasn’t there. Was you?
I assume Garland’s FBLie is all over this intimidation of a public official, right? Right?
Free speech is vital.
Social norms, sanity, decorum are all necessary in c civilized society
To film people inside a women’s washroom is creepy, weird and perverted. That speaks volumnes about communists with zero morals.
Reminds me of Manager meeting early in my career.
Many issues were discussed and I my frustration level increased by the minute.
One issue. Union stewards demanding frequent cleaning of Union washrooms, as they were never clean and horrible.
Second issue. Doctors prescribing light duties to a large number on Union members.
Sarcastically, I proferred we assign a light duty employee to sit in the washroom to write a report every time someone left a mess.
Rightfully, the Plant Manager shot me a face, and the idea died.
I see it as nothing more than stalking and a criminal act.
American Thinker apparently does have an editor, though. Silvio Canto, Jr., in an article posted on FR this morning under the headline “My mother the terrorist”, writes, “Like many of you, I love the fact that there is an editor who reads my drafts.”
Of course, you specified “dedicated editors who carefully overlook the publication of each article”, which may not apply to the editor(s) at AT.
Brilliant idea, otoh been there done that, learned a long time ago, management asks for the truth/ Ideas.... because they want someone to blame/ ride, and 99% of the time open your mouth you become their scapegoat/ cannon fodder
Management wasnt going to rock the boat with the union for fear of losing their jobs.
...”A female activist (along with a college,.....”
hmmmmmm....wonder which institution of higher education was there as well.... it probably made total sense to the half-wit who wrote this piece....
“save money by not hiring editors”
Spelchuk is free and doesn’t want a raise.
Well, at least she knows which bathroom to use. More than can be said for some of the freaks on the left these days.
Even American Thinker. It’s pathetic.

Yes, I have editors at AmmoLand as well. Punctuation, grammar, and obvious spell-checker mistakes don't appear to have a high priority.
The editors simply do not have time to carefully edit each article for such things. They mostly rely on automated systems to do so.
Having to be my own editor for most things has made me a much better writer.
Many, if not most, Internet editors are primarily concerned with ad placement, image displays, popular search terms and such. Those seem to have a priority over punctuation, grammar, spelling.
This is simple economics. There isn't enough profit margin for most Internet publications to pay for that sort of editing.
If there is, there often isn't the demand for it.
The bigger problems here is that there were other ladies in the restroom.
What of their privacy and security?
