When Abraham Lincoln spoke the prophetic words "a house divided against itself cannot stand" — in a speech before the Illinois Republican state convention in 1858 — he was a relatively unknown politician. He saw the obvious: North and South were hopelessly divided over the issue of slavery — or more fundamentally, states' rights — and a breakup was all but all but unavoidable. This came to pass in just a few years' time in the form of the Civil War.
Is America nearing a similar point in 2021? Today it is not so much North versus South or free states versus slave states; rather, it is red states versus blue states, the heartland versus the coastal states, elites versus middle class, leftists versus conservatives. No matter how you chose to define the divide, a chasm has grown between two distinct groups living within in the U.S. The room for compromise and accommodation seems to be shrinking by the day. Joe Biden's candidacy was based on the promise that he would bring us together. Look at what we got instead: more divisiveness, stoked by the Biden administration itself.
A number of political scientists no longer think the idea of a crack-up of the Union is beyond the pale. They cite a September 30 poll by the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia showing that over half of Trump voters surveyed nationwide and 41 percent of Biden voters are in favor of blue and/or red states seceding from the union. This is poll isn't the only one showing such a sentiment. An earlier YouGov poll in June revealed that 66 percent of Southern Republicans surveyed said they wanted the Southern states to go their own way.

Life would get better divorced from the CA-DC-NY axis of evil.
In the end, all politics is geographic.

Secession
It's time for us to jettison those who reject our national values because there's no changing them. Time to secede.
We should extend the invitation to secede on a county by county basis.

While we're at it, since we'd be forming a new country, we should extend the invitation to counties in Canada and Mexico as well.
Note that this option is becoming increasingly popular.

In the new “Heartland Federal Republic” I see a place for Alberta, Saskatchewan, and maybe Manitoba - if you are talking about Canada.
If NYS is so evil, why does Deep State have to steal our elections, hmmmm?
Deep State wants us divided.
Don’t make it easier for them.
LOL. Well we have that in common then. I want us divided. Any sane realist wants that. I want a real Constitution and real border and we will never get that out of DC.
IMO that complicates things too much and state by state secession is the ONLY option for now.
I was thinking it should be called the Republic of America or ROA.
Find our jar-shaker.
Never violate the principles of leverage and momentum.
The new country would be very geographically large, with a pathway towards increase to include not only parts of Canada & Mexico but Greenland [remember Trump wanting to open that up?] and Siberia. A new form of kinder, gentler exurbian Manifest Destiny.

There is a geographic element to it. As always - even before the War of Independence, the Northeast and the South are on opposite sides. These two regions’ antipathy for one another goes back to the antipathy of the two groups from England that largely settled the two regions had for each other.
The Non Left Coast West and Midwest are mostly with the South this time. Just the Left Coast and a few large urban islands like Chicago and Miami are with the globalist envirosocialists.
Mexico? No way.
Yep. I’d welcome them. Its a shame about Vancouver. Other than Vancouver, the rest of BC is like the rest of Western Canada in its outlook....kind of like its just the coastal strips of Washington, Oregon and California (and not even all of that) which are hard left.
The leftists in this administration would like nothing better. Then they can call on the UN to squelch the "insurrection".
Any county that wants to be in this new country is fine with me. The current problem with Mexico is they are not subject to the US laws and culture.
That fence between San Diego and Tijuana divides 2 legal cultures, one far more corrupt than the other — entirely fixable.
I think maybe you didn’t look at the county-by-county map. We have them surrounded.
The problem is, at the end of the day, “we” don’t need them, but they sure as hell need us. Secession or separation won’t work, because everything they do is predicated on making it unworkable. They need serfs and dependents.
Consequently, they will never leave you alone, they will never allow you to go your own way, it’s as simple as that.
What Abe really meant.. A house divided cannot stand, so I’ll kill or enslave all of that house, that wont bow to my government’s demands.
