Our Woke National Icons: Milley, Fauci, and Biden are soulless men who reveal the bankruptcy of our ruling class

[history]
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley conceded to Congress last week that he has been an anonymous source to controversial “inside” progressive muckrakers detailing the supposed dysfunctions of the prior administration. He strangely characterizes such anonymous, self-serving, behind-the-scenes leaking as some sort of public-service transparency. Evidently, it is now a part of the chairman’s duties to serve the media.

This is all a product of living in Post-Christian America. No one in government (or media, or academia for that matter) gives a damn about Christian virtues like honesty, fair-play, honor, integrity, sympathy, justice or your word being your bond. They pay lip-service to such things whenever they can be useful in their pursuit of power. Otherwise, they are seen obstacles that restrain the weak.

I remember the Admiral who was the Chief of Naval Operations, and committed suicide because he somebody found out he was wearing ribbons he didn’t deserve to wear.
He did wrong, but he was at least honorable. Milley is the opposite case and a grave danger to our military and nation given his obvious corruption and total lack of shame and honor.
The longer he stays in his position, the more he threatens the fabric of trust and honor our military is built on.

Very grave. I love Victor Davis Hanson but I thoroughly disagree with the last sentence of the excerpt above, and the related opinion trajectory he follows in his article. It's more than just about "the media". Milley and others like him have chosen sides - they have bent knee to a Regime, transferred their loyalties to a clique of people over the Constitution and the nation (Republic) on the whole. This is why no one has been held to any account and aren't going to be over debacles such as the retreat from Afghanistan. The Regime has the people they want in place - Milley and others have made their bones with them. Can't believe no one has detected this and the accompanying dangerous implications.

to serve the media.
..Among the many “background” quotes that Milley provided to meet his journalistic obligations were his various comparisons of his commander-in-chief to Nazis—a violation of Article 88 of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. He reportedly offered further allegations to journalists that news outlets like the Epoch Times and Newsmax were “terrorist” organizations. When pressed on such details the usually punctilious Milley shrugs, in the fashion of James Comey’s under-oath testimonies, that he does “not recall” such specifics. Such is the honor of the nation’s most visible military officer.A 'willie' Milley...

Well said, lapsus. Agree that Hanson pulled back from the strong condemnation Milley deserves. Milley and so many others have “bent a knee” to this human-spirit-devouring Regime.
