I have a theory, yes I know, please hold the sarcasm and let me finish. My theory is, and has been for a long time, that we, the west, should fence off the middle east, don’t let anyone out and toss in a bunch of conventional weapons so that they can do the world a favor and kill each other off. After all that’s what they’ve been doing for centuries.
I’m wondering if sleepy joe did just that. The Taliban are like the palistinians in that none of their neighbors like them but they do appreciate the fact that the Taliban gave the US another huge black eye.
The Taliban up until now are beholden to their neighbors for their existence. However, now that the Taliban have their own country, and likely a lot of US Taxpayer money, and enough warfighting equipment to literally do whatever they want, I think they’re going to become much more independent.
The Taliban possess the ability and yes, the resolve to impose their will upon neighbors. Given their toxic ideology I think it’s just a matter of time before they’re pissing off Iran, Pakistan, China and everyone who borders them. And I think all of them are considering this as well.
What’s your opinion?

They’ve been tribally murdering each other for more than a thousand years. It’s the main reason Israel continues to exist. Why would they stop now?

We’d all love to see that however I think Pakistan would be protective, providing the taliban hadn’t pissed them off. And would Pakistan want a bunch of Chinese on their border? A chinese invasion could be seen a precursor to a take over in the region. Tensions between nuclear powers would ratchet up the tension in the region and world.

Since every one of the world’s great superpowers, starting with Alexander the Great, has tried and failed with that mission, I’d hope to see the Chinese have a go at it. BTW, if Id written your post, I’d have added “try to” before “clean house[.]”

If anything he’d have stumbled his way into it. He’s intent on screwing America and Americans and helping everyone else, as we have seen.

Should the taliban chose, that region could become a dominate news item for years. The taliban are in the catbird seat and I think they know it.

Yeah I would say the most growth-oriented career in Kabul these days is to be an undertaker.
It didn’t help after WW1 when the west arbitrarily created “countries” with no retgards for tribes.
