It’s one of the stupidest displays of government incompetence and ideological knuckleheadedness in recent history. A New York state healthcare provider operating a week ago without issue is now forced to stop offering healthcare services today. Why? Simply because the government has mandated a vaccine requirement that many workers within the industry are uncomfortable with.
The issue is not just a shortage of doctors and nurses. Everyone including: janitors, cafeteria staff, administrators, phone operators, clerical staff, coders, IT staff, receptionists and customer service staff within the healthcare industry are impacted. If they didn’t take the jab, they’re fired.
Yet, somewhere in the twisted logic and ideological worldview seemingly devoid of commonsense, the proponents claim it’s for the benefit of public health to enact policies that shut-down services providing for the public health. Take this example:
(New York) Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse will temporarily close 22 of its 35 operating rooms starting Monday in anticipation of a growing staff shortage due to New York’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate.
The hospital had already postponed elective surgeries as a result of chronic staff shortages during the coronavirus pandemic. Now, priority will be given to surgeries that are medically necessary, time sensitive or involve critical-care trauma cases, the hospital announced Friday. Those surgeries will be consolidated into the 13 open operating rooms. (read more)
What will be the likely outcome? An excessive death toll as people can no longer get treatments or diagnoses for conditions that are unrelated to COVID-19. The data has already emerged in the controlled healthcare system within the U.K. where they are seeing an unusual spike in deaths due to un-diagnosed and un-treated illnesses. 18 months of delayed treatments in the socialized system of British healthcare are starting to take a toll.

Here’s a question for these hospital systems: Since vaxxed employees can still get and pass CoupFlu, how in Hades are you going to protect patients from nosocomial CoupFlu infections?!
IF it is a “person of color” I hope that all the race baiters jump on it.

Let me think.
They can test them once a week or so and put them on a 2-week quarantine if they test positive.
Then they can hire a nurse or lab tech or whatever from a temp firm to help for the two weeks and waive the requirement for that person to be vaxxed since they are just a temp.
Then, when the temp who shows up is a person who used to work at the hospital and was fired a month ago for not getting the vax, they can worry about what kind of sabotage that person may engage in or what sort of video they will take with their hidden camera.
For fun, they can place bets on whether that person goes to Project Veritas, Stew Peters, or The Highwire with that video.
My guess is that Hochul et al will claim that 95%+ workers are vaccinated and that the emergency is over, even if not accurate.
It will be a different message locally, but the state message from Hochul will carry a lot of weight.

I’ve seen lots of threats to employees, but nothing on how they’ll deal with the threat that the vaxxed can STILL pose to patients.

This happened to a cousin of mine. Cancer, which had been in remission for many years, returned. By the time it was recognized, because there were no screenings during the prolonged lockdown in 2020, it was too late.

It’s obviously not going to work, but many have become vaxx-obsessed as if the shot is the goal. Immunity is the goal, and obviously the Covid vaccine fails at providing actual durable immunity.
No doubt, in two weeks or so, we’ll hear of an “unexpected” outbreak of Covid in one of these NY hospitals, in spite of the 100% mandated vaccination.
Yep. They know and don’t care. They are literally trying to pit people against each other. Always have. Just now they are trying to foment animosity by the vaccinated against the refuseniks. Which is odd in another way because by and large the unvaccinated are overwhelmingly in minority groups - at least as a percentage of their representation within the population. It’s not just white right wingers.
This will be used to justify a lynch mob attack on any unvaccinated.
Gear up and be ready.
Just an observation, for which I hope I can choose the correct words.
The powers that be in New York State, in their zeal to have some sort of “zero tolerance” policy that everyone must be vaccinated, are not balancing risk and priorities, or consequences of their actions.
They would rather shut down healthcare and deny healthcare to people, due to lack of vaccinated staff, rather than take assessment of the risks and consequences of the actions. To them, the risk that someone might have the virus and spread the virus, overrides the denial of healthcare, as they shut down hospital units.
Some people might die, because of not being able to get healthcare, due to the desire to show they are taking zero tolerance actions against a virus which is not deadly in the overwhelming majority of cases, even if people do get the virus.
Not only that, but these are the people most likely to have a natural immunity. Doctors, nurses and staff, EMTs, police, fire & rescue have been on the front lines interacting with people even as the rest of us were in some or another lockdown.
The failure to recognize natural immunity is completely unscientific. I am not for this mandate I am for choice by patients and workers alike but at the very least presence of antibodies should qualify a person as being “vaxxed”. We know data shows their immunity is stronger and broader. We need to do more studies on whether they are more or less likely to retransmit it. My hunch is that they are less likely to retransmit since their bodies are already primed to kill it quickly.
Check out the conclusion. There's transmission, but keep masking and vaxxing!

This harkens to why I dumped Seattle for a home and acreage in rural Kentucky 13 years ago and moved here 10 years ago.
We may have elected a knucklehead Democrat governor, but the rest of our government is so solid republican that there is a supermajority.
He can try whacked stuff like this (and has), but it doesn’t stick.
