General Dynamics Corp. has canceled their vaccine mandate after roughly 40% of their employees declined the jab & threatened to quit.

That put a smile on my face.
Good for them!
Never underestimate the impact of a good old take this jab and shove it!
That’s all it takes. Solidarity. Everyone say, he’ll no.
Given the direction I was seeing (and personally experiencing!) in the defense contractor industry in the 2005-2014 time-frame, I am surprise General Dynamics hadn’t jettisoned all of their experienced and older workers for a bunch of woke college graduates.
There are only about a hundred and change where I am but the bulk of us said no.
Is there a source for this story?
Apparently, the City of Hamilton (Ontario) transit system, requires manditory experimental vaccine injections. Of 800 employees, less than 200 agreed. They CANNOT operate their transit system with only 200 people! BRAVO!!
That’s huge. Big government contractor. If they say No, then others can say No.
Companies like Lockheed need government contracts. But it is equally true that the Government needs companies like Lockheed (and General Dynamics). The government will NOT stop doing business with them just because they refuse the mandate. That’s really cutting off your nose to spite your face. The companies have the power, if they want it. Which really means the workers have the power.
I’m super thrilled that General Dynamics did this.
Is this the Canadian parent company? Unfortunately, I don’t think anyone will be able to say no in the US; they will get fined 14K per day per employee, then what? Perhaps some will stand up and litigate, but I doubt it. And what for the federal workers whose unions have already sold them down the river on this? We are talking about all of the scientists, engineers and program managers who ensure our military maintains our edge in long range precision fires, applied artificial intelligence, autonomous decision making and information fusion, battle command, as well as the folks at the DIA, NSA, and others who are in fact very patriotic Americans working hard to stay ahead of our enemies. This is a grave risk to national security, much more serious and certain than COVID (or even than a real pandemic).
WINNING!
This is pretty significant, GD is big here in RI and CT. Good on them!
The Government can try to mandate General Dynamic comply but GD will have one major problem of replacing this highly specialized work force which would mean no Defense toys...
A polite way of saying, ‘hey, you commie management scum, you want to play hardball with your threatening mandates?’ ‘OK, let’s play, GAME ON!’
There is $80 billion of equipment to replace. Some idiot left it all behind somewhere. The defense contractors can’t build it with 40% of their staff gone.
I worked for GD until 2012, when I was laid off. Best thing that ever happened to me (I was badly overworked and totally stressed out). I was 59.5 years old and had 24.5 years with the company. I was a former GTE employee, and came over when GD bought the defense side of GTE.
If GD had kept me for another 6 months I would have been owed a much larger separation and retirement. An employment attorney told me years later that I had had an excellent case for a lawsuit.
I have no regrets though. I escaped from that job alive, and have a good pension and excellent health insurance.
I believe right now, all private companies are just doing their own mandates. The federal mandates have not kicked in yet.
>they will get fined 14K per day per employee
There’s not even a proposed rule, much less a final rule that’s survived 20+ state AGs suing. In fact, there’s been complete radio silence other than an audible sigh as the pivot turns to which companies mandate what and which employees do what instead of the slaughterhouse formerly known as Afghanistan.
Yea!!!!👍👍👍👍
