I recently had a COVID19 antibody test performed by Labcorp. The result was positive for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies with a "Semi-Quant Total Ab" of 506.8 U/ml. And there's the rub...what does this mean? Is it good, bad or indifferent? The report doesn't say and my PCP says there no data available yet that would allow him to grade the result. I am hoping that someone out there in Freeper land can explain how this number (506.8) correlates to protection. Thanks in advance.
This is something that the good for nothing, do nothing, NIH should have been developing. These people have been a complete waste thru out this whole pandemic.
I never lost smell or taste, no temperature, no fever, breathing was fine, just a strange cough...
Waited for the advertised symptoms but had none..
Sure. But did the OP also recently have symptoms consistent with covid-19? Especially loss of smell and/or taste? If so i would assume the positive test result means a recent covid-19 infection.
OP had the test that measures anti-bodies apart from those of vaccination. His test was infection anti-bodies only.
Lab Corp does different tests.
This looks like the total anti-Covid IgG, which is directed at whole viral (e.g. nucleocapsid) antigens as well as Spike antigens. The early generation test may have cross reacted with immunity to endemic coronaviruses to some extent, but I don’t know about this particular assay.
I don’t order this test any more, but if my memory is correct, Negative is defined as <0.99.
Thus, your result would be considered a “high positive.” It suggests that you had a brisk immune response to either natural infection or immunization.
Currently, all the commercial labs will do more specific semi-quantitative testing: anti-Nucleocapsid IgG (natural infection-derived immunity) and anti-Spike IgG (natural infection and/or vaccine immunity).
The problem with interpretation is that no clinical data have been developed that correlate a given level of immune response (as measured in a test like this) with actual immunity to re-infection.
In contrast, such data DO exist for diseases like measles, mumps, chicken pox, Hepatitis A and B - thus, we can do “immunity screens” for those diseases and know if a patient needs those vaccines or not.
It’s why I believe I had a mild case but will not test for antibodies- my system will either protect me or it won’t and since they can’t tell shit from Shinola with the bug tests, how an we trust the antibody tests?
Absolutely criminal. This is not the first time I have seen a big chunk of modern medicine turn out to be a giant scam.
We created the FDA to deal with snake oil salesman. All we accomplished was institutionalized the snake oil industry.
Can you elaborate on exactly which test you received?
I tried to post my T-Detect test experience but the mods kept deleting it.
Don’t waste your money on T-Detect. I had the virus March 2020 and it came up simply ‘negative’.
I call BS on the test. If what I have learned of t-cells is true, the test should be positive. Otherwise the test is worthless/defective/poorly executed and/or there are aspects to natural immunity which cannot be measured.
Don’t say you weren’t warned.
“It means you have an antibody for COVID19 alpha variant spike protein and nothing more. Means there are antibodies to the alpha variant spike protein but nothing for beta, gamma, delta, mu, etc. unlike the recovered who have antibodies to literally hundreds of parts of the virus and almost certainly have some level of immunity to the variants.”
That needs to be posted here daily and multiple times/day to break through all the BS. Well stated.
I’m with you about that. Why is it that with Covid 19 nobody who should know all about the covid after 19 months of this crap doesn’t seem to really know anything? You cannot get a straight answer about any of it. You can read about it all day long and nothing really agrees with anything else. Get the vaxx? Don’t think so!
Wonder if you’ll now qualify for a Covid passport or be able to keep your job, or take your family out for a meal?
So, would a T-Cell test show that those folks had decades maybe lifelong immunity?
That’s a good question, something that should have been asked and answered by the experts a long time ago and get some testing regimen going so people could make informed decisions. Instead, we all have to try to wade through a mountain of bullshit and reverse engineer official pronouncements from “experts” who reverse themselves on a constant basis. We’re all Epidemiologists now, and improving our vocabulary though.
Antibodies don’t matter. You still must surrender to the shot.
It’s not about a virus; it’s never been about a virus.
I did this this week. I scored under...so no antibodies. Hard to believe after a year and a halF
I had Covid at the end of December last year. It was a mild case, in spite of my being an old gal and having asthma. I tested positive for antibodies in May. Last week, I donated blood and now the antibody test was negative. However, the Covid titer was .4100. I have no idea what the titer means.
From what I have read, I still have memory in my T cells. I hope that memory is better than my regular memory. :-)
Titer is immune reaction. You obviously have antibodies if you have a titer, but they were below detectable levels in the other tests. Titer is kind of a sledgehammer test. Not very delicate nor precise but gets the job done.
There is no way to know yet about long term immunity, but the similar stuff like MERS and SARS have had that immune system helper T and B Cell immunity for about 20 years so far with it looking like it might be life long.

They must have some data, though?
Or how else would they be able to claim the vaxxes work?
Don’t the vaxxes have to generate immunity at a certain level to be considered efficacious?
What’s the level?
And if your natural immunity meets or exceeds the above, why bother with the vaxx?
Thank you for your reply! That’s what I wanted to know.
