Some of the most obnoxious fans on the planet.
The eyes of Texas are looking at their cowboy boots.
Been waiting all weekend for that!
It was a beautiful thing to watch. Almost as beautiful as Jacksonville State beating FSU.
Vanderbilt of the West
I look forward to Monday mornings during football season for SEC Shorts!
Texas had an off day. Their OL couldn’t protect the qb. Their defense couldn’t stop the run. Other than that, they weren’t that bad.
OU Texas will be a must win for both teams.
We’ll see if OU’s lousy quarterback can pull it out.
Also, be sure to watch with CC on. The captions add more jocularity.
Be careful of what you wish for, Texas. You got smacked around by Arkansas. There’s still Georgia, Alabama, and A&M to worry about. Plus Oklahoma is going with you.
Just wished Notre Dame had lost.
The Toledo QB shouldn’t have scored right away, I would have gone out of bounds at the 1, and then ran down the clock a bit.
They’re not backing out. Good grief.
How did A&M do against Arkansas their last year in the Big12? Anyone? And how are they doing now? Same story with UT and ou ... not quite ready but will build over time.
Best line of all, “We could be the richest non-bowl-eligible team in the country!”
What’s even funnier was that the beatdown came from their old SWC bunkmate, who basically led to the demise of that conference when they went to the SEC.
We here iN Arkansas beat those Texans like rented mules, was at the game and the look of disbelief on those Texans was priceless!
Lifelong Hogs fan here. One of the most impressive games I’ve ever seen from them. But, can’t help to wonder how different things might have gone if that muffed punt at the beginning had gone the other way..... yikes.
Not real sure how this idea came up that “Texas” cannot play in the SEC based on this game. TU and Arkansas were long-time members of the SouthWest Conference, played nearly every year for decades. TU normally won, as they won most SWC games against most SWC opponents.
SEC “dominance” of “collegiate” football is strong now, but not always in the past.
Texas is NOT part of the SEC.
Texas A&M is a member of the SEC, and they have held their own since joining the conference. Ranked 7th this year.
But, the SEC is a different animal. Over the decades, I’ve heard a number of coaches that joined an SEC staff comment how surprised they were at how seriously football was taken in the SEC.
Bill Curry (Baltimore Colts player, coach at GA Tech) took over the Alabama job. He told the story of meeting a mild and meek little old lady—the stereotype southern belle. When they parted, she leaned in and growled in his ear: you better damn well beat Auburn.
The first pro sports didn’t hit the south until the mid-sixties. Until then, college football was the ONLY sports in the South. Consequently, it became intense.
Georgia’s last coach had winning records and routinely had them competing for conference championships. He was fired, because they weren’t competing for national championships.
I just hate the fact that Big Ten homer, Herbstreit, has to show his mug after every SEC Shorts.
