More than half of the NYPD isn’t vaccinated for COVID-19, so the department has issued an ultimatum: vax up, or mask up.
In a statement Wednesday, the NYPD said cops who want to remove their masks at work must provide proof they’ve gotten the COVID inoculation to the department’s medical division — citing an executive order by Mayor de Blasio requiring contractors working for the city to do so.
“Members who do not have official proof of COVID-19 vaccination on file with the Medical Division must wear a face covering at all times while working, whether indoors or outside, including while driving in Department vehicles,” the mandated stated.
Vaccine or not, cops must still wear masks in elevators or when they’re interacting with the public. And they have to mask up whenever they’re present in a school, pre-K to 12th grade, in the city transit system or in a homeless shelter, correctional facility, nursing home or health care setting, the order said.

The vaxxed don’t wear a mask? Then how does masking the unvaxxed help? Both can get the virus and shed the virus. I would mask up rather than get vaxxed. It’s just a another useless signaling and shaming prop.
Personally, I hope a goodly percentage of them resign. Shitty dwellers still haven’t gotten the fact that their decisions at the voting booth have consequences. Do they have to be wading waist deep in filth and dead bodies before they get it?

I wore one of those the last six months of lockdown. Haven’t worn a mask for months except when forced at a doctor office and on a plane.
I second the suggestion. They are excellent. I wear them on airline flights all the time. Have never been questioned once.
For women who like bling. These masks are nothing but mesh with gems on them. I have one and used it before our mask mandate went away.

I wear the single layer in countries where you have to wear a mask outside or in a gym. Again…never been questioned and it’s like not having one on at all.

In Seattle, firefighters are required to wear masks but the police aren't, it's raising a real stink storm. Damn I hate liberals!

There is one occupation where the masks are a proven benefit. I caught part of a televised poker tournament and all the players were masked. Would make it much easier to have a poker face.
