Our options are limited and horrific. We can sit around and be humiliated for years - or - let loose so much hell on both Pakistan and the Taliban that they give us our people back. In either case, the hostages will not likely survive. And what American President or general is going to give such an order? It would most likely start a really big possibly nuclear war.

I can’t imagine being a westerner, especially an American, or a known Afghan “reformer” (of any sort) being stuck there.

I have another theory. I don’t think Harris will last long; she’s literally the most unpopular VP ever, and she’d be equally unpopular as president , even with the DC crowd. Pelosi is a complete vicious witch and they’re all afraid of her and they certainly don’t want her as president.
When a VP becomes President, they have to pick a new VP; it doesn’t automatically go to the Speaker unless there’s no VP.
So I think they’ll have Kamala pick some VP that they like, and then she will, for one reason or another, resign and hand it over to that person.
Ok, that’s my theory…too weird? But nothing is too weird for the Dems.
