Thousands of U.S. citizens are trapped in Kabul with no ability to get to the airport. As Taliban soldiers go door to door, searching for Westerners, these U.S. citizens are now reaching out to Washington for help.
“We’ve been screaming at the State Department over this issue,” one senior GOP Senate staffer told me. “This is a s---show everyone saw coming, and they didn’t do a damn thing about it until about 24 hours ago, after days of pounding on them by the Hill.”
State Dept and DOD have two options: negotiate safe passage for American citizens with the Taliban, if possible, or send the military into the city to bring Americans back to the airport before the Taliban gangs find them.

Our GOP Senator was on local talk radio talking about her office staff working around the clock on this issue. Meanwhile Sleepy Joe is on vacation.
We all ask this a thousand times.... BUT... Can you imagine the media if Trump flew back from vacation to give a 10 minutes address only to walk right back to Marine One and go back on vacation?
Does the billions of equipment count toward the bribes? Does “The Big Guy” get his usual cut or will the new billion dollar Taliban HQ be adorned with Hunter Biden paintings?
You get the feeling that until the pics and videos started showing up on twitter none of this was sufficiently real to anyone involved - that it was all some theoretical “maybe someday” sort of eventuality.

Oh, yeah. And not just the media - the House actually impeached Trump for something that didn’t happen. You can’t even call it double standards when their side doesn’t have any standards at all.

I honestly don’t know. This is the nightmare scenario of the perfect storm. There are two or three scenarios where this goes sideways. Maybe the Taliban will let the American citizens through the check points to the airport. I would not bet one dollar on it. They are the same blood thirsty pack of wolves they always were.
Yup—the families of the missing Americans better get a serious dgaf _attitude_—they are gonna have to get in the faces of their Congress-critters and get hostile—or they will get the DC two step.
One tip for such families—contact your local media _now_ and tell your story. The early preparation will introduce you to the relevant reporter(s) so they will be ready for the story as events move forward.
Make sure to let your Congress-critter that you are making media contacts—so they better not ignore you...unless they want you and all your friends devoting their lives to getting them defeated.
WHAT??? Hundreds of thousands? Of Americans? Maybe tens of thousands, but even that seems high. I read 10k. That seems more in keeping with what’s going on.
One interesting question is how many foreign nationals are there in Kabul—that could be close to 100K.
Yeh I’m not optimistic at all. This is likely to turn into a total mess.
