As we face another extremely embarrassing chapter of history for the United States, I am struck by the similarity with regard to the inept and absence of leadership in Washington DC as regards the April 1975 situation in Saigon and the August 2021 situation in Afghanistan.
Both times, we were "led" by a bumbling placeholder president that was not legitimately elected by the U.S. people. Gerald Ford in 1975 and Joe Biden in 2021. Both of these incapable presidents attained office when the Left forced out a popular Republican president, by hook or by crook.
Ford was the unwitting beneficiary of the destruction of Richard Nixon over the Watergate coverup. He never would have attained the White House on his own merits. When VP Agnew resigned in 1973, Ford was the compromise choice to be appointed VP. Then when Nixon resigned, Ford assumed the presidency having never received a single vote from the people on a national ticket.
At least it can be said that Ford gave his best effort and made the best of things. But an effective president he was not and his ineptness - as well as the images of Saigon - led to four dismal years of Jimmy Carter.
As for Biden, he too has no right to be president. When it was clear that Trump was headed for a landslide re-election, Biden was made the sacrificial lamb for the inevitable losing ticket. Then COVID happened and the stage was set for the Democrats to literally steal the election from Trump with millions of "mail-in" votes that magically materialized in the middle of the night in six key states that Trump was winning handily. Biden has no business being president and it is clear that he is not up to the job.
Both military disasters occurred under the watch of these feckless placeholder presidents. And it looks like Afghanistan is going to be much, much worse than the Fall of Saigon.
You are right on every point.
Remember the Republican Party, in 1976 one year after the disaster in Saigon nominated Gerald Ford to run for reelection, kicking Ronald Reagan to the curb....
We ended up with Jimmy Carter and the rest is history...
Vietnam, after bloodshed became a tourist hub and prosperous country that loves expats.
Just as significant as the theft of the presidency was the lack of protest from any voice that mattered. The criminal conspiracy was so successful, how can anyone not believe this will become the norm?
The fall of kabul is not saigon. it is a complete and utter fluster cuck but at least it is not saigon. whew.
This is epic.
Putting Ford into the same “unelected” category as BeijingBiden is inaccurate and unfair.
He was elected as the replacement if Nixon were outed. That’s how our system works. How Nixon was outed is not relevant.
BB, on the other hand, like the MochaVice were not fairly or legally elected. The US Const forbid states from making the elector changes the Gov’nas imposed. So, even if BB got the votes, he got them illegally.
Stolen elections have consequences.
Ford was appointed to replace Agnew.
Don’t compare Biden to Gerald Ford. Yes, Ford was a liberal Republican, but he was duly elected by both House and Senate when he was chosen as Vice=President by Nixon. He then became President after Nixon resigned. All legal, all constitutional.
Ford supported continuation of the Nixon policy in VietNam but was undercut by a democrat congress willing to abandon the effort for their own political reasons. Biden simply disregarded Trump’s negotiated plan basically because it was Trump’s. The Saigon disaster was due to a Democrat congress. The Kabul disaster is due to a democrat president.
I believe we’re in Yuri Bezmenov’s final “Normalization” stage of subversion process. The only ways out being Major War, Civil War, Coup (just had one, went the wrong way), and ultimate Collapse (which worked for the Soviet Union).
No doubt that for us, worse is yet to come.
"Kabul's ice cream is so good, You'll jump at the chance to get it."
Agnew was on the ticket with Nixon in both 1968 and 1972.
Except the VC had no interest in attacking American soil
Ford did his best. It was Teddy Kennedy who led the Democrats to cut off all aid to the Vietnamese.
If you remember Spiro Agnew resigned before Nixon because of some type of tax problem I think....
Gerald Ford was then selected as VP, he was the minority leader from the House...
Then Nixon Resigned, Gerald Ford took over as POTUS without ever running as POTUS or VPOTUS...
So in a shortened term in office, Ford pardoned Nixon, oversaw the collapse of Vietnam and floundering economy but somehow the Republicans saw fit to nominate him in 1976 over Ronald Reagan..
Then there was the botched Swine Flu shot.
