Kabul Has Fallen (analysis)
Conservative Treehouse ^ | 15 Aug 2021 | Sundance

Why the rapid collapse? “In the wake of President Biden’s withdrawal decision, the U.S. pulled its air support, intelligence and contractors servicing Afghanistan’s planes and helicopters. That meant the Afghan military simply couldn’t operate anymore. The same happened with another failed American effort, the South Vietnamese army in the 1970s, said retired Lt. Gen. Daniel Bolger, who commanded the U.S.-led coalition’s mission to train Afghan forces in 2011-2013.” (WSJ link)

All we learn from history is that Democrats learn nothing from history.

The Democrats will do whatever it takes to get the most votes as cheaply as possible.

I believe I read that in The Hipcrime Vocab.

Or maybe they learn a lot. I think these guys like to lose a lot. They hate America. They hate the West.

The Democrats in 1975 wanted South Vietnam to fall.

They got their wish.

Pretty much the same thing in Afghanistan today.

Democrats delivered Afghanistan to the Taliban, Pakistan and China

The Democrats in 1975 wanted South Vietnam to fall.

Yeah but only after a Republican was in office, having gotten there on a promise to end the war.

They forgot that little detail this time, although maybe they think their control over the MSM is so complete that they can successfully change history and pin this on Trump. They'll try I'm sure.

At least the Woke Military and their Contractors recognized that they were going to need bigger helicopters.

Ted Kennedy was one of the leading voices to cut off aid to South Vietnam. Interesting bc it was his own brother that started the war for the US. But then again, hypocrisy never stopped the Kennedys.

Not a big deal. Biden just thinks he triggered a short sale of a really big property. A real fixer upper though. The tenants might be a little reluctant to leave. A guy named "Cornpop, I think, a real bad dude"

Joe says he'll" meet him outside with a chain and run him over with an 18 wheeler semi-rig" to get him off the property.

Russia Today TV has footage of Afghan civilians in Kabul throwing rocks at the Afghan “Security” Forces as they leave town after putting up no resistance. A little shocked that they seem to have put up no resistance anywhere in the country.

Wonder what the Pentagon and State Department’s assessment of those “Security” forces was before the past few days?

"All we learn from history is that Democrats learn nothing from history."

A truism, and believe it can be applied to any political persuasion. However, we've also learned again that limited warfare is useless. Nation building is even worse. Go all out like we did with Dresden, Hamburg, Hiroshima, Nagasaki without concern for collateral damage.

I wonder if any of our politicos will learn from this. I doubt it because they live for their re-elections, ego-camera time, and power of control over the peons who desire such control. Then there are the gimme-dats.

My Country is Gone.

"Even as Margaret found stability in raising a family, the social and political pressures triggered downward spirals. She carried a fantasy of running away with Ted Kennedy, something which she knew would never happen, and shouldn’t happen, but which she couldn’t let go of. In hindsight, she now says, “I was just one of his flirts, and it wasn’t serious. But it was cataclysmic to my marriage.” She briefly checked into a hospital, but it didn’t help. Nothing did."

Not giving them an out, but those Afghan security forces woke up one morning and we had sneaked away in the night, and cut their power and water as we left.
It was a low life demoralizing, disrespectful thing to do. Lots of ways we could have left, but that was a punch on the gut of any guy to see their ally do that.

It would sure take the wind out of your sails.

If you know the other side is going to win, is it wise to futilely attack them?

After 20 years of American support, if the Afghan Army could not defend the nation the situation was hopeless.

After 20 years, thousands of American lives lost and trillions of dollars wasted United States had three options for Afghanistan:
1) Completely destroy, occupy, and rebuild the nation like we did with Germany and Japan after World War II.
2) Continue forever in the progressive idea of democratic nation rebuilding wasting billions of dollars per year and tying up military resources. This is what we were doing.
3) Leave.

Since WWII our intellegentsia and politicians have no stomach for #1. The American people have no stomach for #2. Option 3 was the choice Obama said he was going to implement when he was elected but never did. Trump said he would leave Afghanistan and chose Option #2, and had a plan in place for execution during his second term. As to whether or not he could have successfully implemented it, we do not know. Biden also ran on exiting Afghanistan. Unlike Obama and Trump, he executed on his promise in the first year.

The American people got what they wanted. An end to a war that was initiated by a Republican President who had a fantasy that a 7th century barbarian culture could be transformed into a 21st century democracy in a few years. Trillions of dollars and countless lives were wasted on George W. Bush’s dream.
