Why do I have the feeling that the military and intelligence community have been feeding us a load of BS on Afghanistan? The sad fact is that since the failed Bay of Pigs attempt, the CIA has been notable for its intelligence FAILURES. I remember that shortly before Eastern Europe broke from communism, the CIA said such a scenario was highly unlikely.

What typically happens is that head of the CIA has already an idea in his head, and tells the analysts to write such-and-such report to equal that.
