Tucker Carlson on the utter horror of our pullout from Afghanistan
American Thinker.com ^ | August 14, 2021 | Andrea Widburg

Quite often, I must resist the temptation to fall back on Tucker Carlson videos because he expresses so well something I’ve wanted to write. However, when it comes to America’s utterly ignominious retreat from Afghanistan on Biden’s watch, it’s impossible for me to do better than Tucker did. In a few minutes, he reminds us of America’s disgraceful retreat from Saigon, of the endless treasure we lost in Afghanistan (not just money but the lives, happiness, and well-being of tens of thousands of men), and of the architects of the disaster who never pay a price – although the Afghanis are paying a terrible price.

So, here’s Tucker, along with his interview with Erik Prince. After watching the video, I’ve got a few more words from an astute friend:

Tucker: It's time to hold our leaders accountable

Tucker: It's time to hold our leaders accountable

I’m sorry for the Afghans that are being killed and worse by the Taliban. However, they aren’t worth anymore blood and treasure since they tend to change alliances at the drop of a hat. You can take the boy out of the tribe, but can’t take the tribe out of the boy.

I really wish the Deep State would have let Trump pull out of Afghanistan like he wanted to. There was no way they were going to let Trump take credit for getting us out of there and avoid the current situation.

This is nothing like the fall of South Vietnam. South Vietnam was a viable state that was induced to fail because for the first time in American history, Congress had qualms about selling arms to a foreign country. There was genuine anti-Communist sentiment among the Vietnamese and they knew that defeat meant death. If ARVN was as heavily equipped and supplied as Afghanistan, the Republic of Vietnam would still exist today. The government in Kabul was always doomed to fail as soon as NATO left.

“You can take the boy out of the tribe, but can’t take the tribe out of the boy.”

Ditto - also, I’d point out the dismal results of the countries that attempted swimming against the tide of history to form Afghanistan into something modern rather than 6th Century.

Gee, another rant from another bloated millionaire at Fox, where he recites what his producers write - telling us everything we want to hear.

Tucker speaks to “conservative” shut-ins, who can’t seem to turn them off no matter HOW HARD the Fox News election criminals ram it up their pathetic, useless asses.

I remember Mark Steyn substituting for Rush did a riff on Afghanistan. He passed along the following from a veteran:

The US bases in Afghanistan were like middle ages fortresses. You could get McDonald’s and Starbucks and go to the movies.

Then, as soon as you set foot off the base everyone wanted to kill you.

Will the afghans fight the chinese or welcome them, mostly?

The chinese ROE will be more brutal than the russkies, but will that be enough?

I long for the day when Biden goes back in his basement and shuts up. Please take away his teleprompter and chain him to the basement wall so he doesn’t hurt himself.

The Chinese will let the Taliban do whatever they want so long as they let their Belt and Road system get constructed with no hassles.

You are probably right. All the chinese have to do is defend the belt and a cleared area around it. They will not care about the rest of that craphole.

The reason why China has had its influence grow in the Third World is they never get involved in the domestic affairs of countries they do business with. If you’re some African country, you can either ask for a loan from the Americans or EU who will nag you about human rights and protecting LGBTQ people, or you can get money directly from Beijing who only cares that you actually build said infrastructure and let them use it. I don’t blame them for being tired of the hypocritical grandstanding.

Another failed nation building attempy, get out and stay out.

Tribes will go back to fighting tribes as the warlords fight each other.

Same as it ever was since the Mongols.

I pray for the poor souls (3000) that are being deployed to cover the “retreat” from Afhanistan. Having served during Vietnam, this is surprisingly familiar. Hopefully the vacationing Biden will allow the troops to fire back if the enemy fires at them. Our troops are demoralized. Hug a soldier or sailor if you know one, and pray for our country and our troops.
