You do know that Arizona has had too much rain the past week enough for flood warnings statewide. And that dust storms are a common occurrence this time of year

It’s a haboob, and Phoenix gets them. We do to in Albuquerque. It’s not unique or even strange for the desert southwest.

It’s the desert. It happens all the time, Fun to watch even.

Made me think of Wall of Voodoo. Anyway, Phoenix looks like Dubai. So what? It’s the desert.

Nah, this is the first time in the history of the world it has happened. It’s all due to Republicans denying that sex is a construct and racism.

we got more rain in last few days than in the last year.
That stuff gets outdates very quickly. Now there are floodings.

It’s the desert. It happens all the time, Fun to watch even. Yes indeed, but not so much fun to drive in. Like a thick fog, but with wind and debris.

Haboob?...sounds like something Xho Bhi Den would say. It's a recently appropriated Arab word. It was never called that around here and I never call it that. This is Arizona, not Arabia. It's a dust storm.

I’ve even drove thru a mud storm. Dust plus rain coating the car with mud.

Scary damned things, especially when you are not used to seeing anything like that.
Was with a friend driving from Long Beach to Phoenix in 96 I think, He saw it on the horizon and drove about 100 yards off the road until it passed us by.
Crazy thing to experience.

It’s all due to Republicans denying that sex is a construct and racism. Come on, man! Get with the program! You're supposed to capitalize that, and add exclamation points; for example:
RACISM!!!

In the early 1980s, I was stationed at 29 Palms in the Mojave Desert. From time to time, I would see these “Walls of Dust” approach from Bear Mountain, tumbleweeds and all. It was always an awesome sight.

It has happened in Phoenix for as long as I’ve lived in Arizona...50 years. Nothing special. And after a month of very regular rain, I’m HOPING for a few dry days!
To: IYAS9YAS
But why would a dust storm happen right after monsoon rains?
One would think that the ground would be at least damp.
Guess not.

It’s a haboob, and Phoenix gets them. I've got a photo somewhere in my collection of two of them coming to together from north and south just east of MCAS Yuma. I took it back in 1988/89 from the forth story of one of the barracks on the air station. Very cool picture; probably one of the best I ever took.
