....“Nearly all Americans (94%) — including 95% of both Republicans and Democrats — say it is important that people who are legally qualified to vote are able to cast a ballot, with 82% saying it is very important,” reports a new Pew Research Center poll.
Then the persistent difference of opinions emerge.
Another 81% overall also say it is important to prevent people who are not legally qualified to vote from doing so; 78% of Republicans and 44% of Democrats agree. Among all respondents 56% are confident that measures to achieve this already happen, though with another sharp party split — 30% of Republicans and 79% of Democrats agree.
The survey found that 57% overall agreed that voting was a “fundamental right for every adult U.S. citizen and should not be restricted in any way”; 32% of Republicans and 78% of Democrats agreed with that idea.
Meanwhile, 42% overall believe in this statement: “Voting is a privilege that comes with responsibilities and can be limited if adult U.S. citizens don’t meet some requirements.” Among Republicans, 67% agreed, compared to 21% of Democrats.
And one more item for those who believe that the electoral system is flawed or unfair: 77% of Americans overall are “confident” that legally qualified voters are able to cast a ballot; 87% of Republicans and 69% of Democrats agree....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
56% of Democrats are OK with illegal voting by non-citizens, surprise, surprise.
What the hell is wrong with the other 22% of Republicans?
If both parts are less than 81% how do you get to 81% overall?
Maybe they are RINOs.
That does not surprise me one bit! When you are okay with killing babies, you are morally corrupt and liable to do anything evil.
They’re cowards!
I know your question is rhetorical, but they’re not republicans, they’re rinos.
Independents?
I thought the same thing. It does seem odd though that independents would score high enough to skew this like that.
“Among all respondents 56% are confident that measures to achieve this already happen”
More are waking up every day. The 44% are still gullible.
Almost half the country is FITH.
The usual RINOs that really run the Republican party.
The Washington Times synopsis was a little too brief in describing the results.
The article by Pew begins with this:
Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents overwhelmingly say voting is a fundamental right that should not be restricted in any way – 78% hold this view...Pew is grouping Democrats and "Democratic-leaning independents" into one number, which they describe in the top paragraph. They then use this scheme in the rest of their reporting. Someone who skimmed the article or didn't catch this nuance might assume it was just Democrats.
From their Methodology, his is a poll of 10,221 Adults. The split is:
So the poll is heavily weighted towards Democrats. What else is new?
thanks
Just more evidence of how deeply divided we are.
Actually no…more fake propaganda meant to deeply divide us.
My Ultra-Lib sister is fine with non-citizens voting. Since ‘they live here, too’ they should have a say in governance. Never mind that it’s against the Constitution. To Libs, our beloved Constitution is only a hindrance.
If we’re so deeply divided, why does Deep State have to steal elections?
It benefits Deep State to pit us against each other, to make us think our house is truly divided.
It also benefits Deep State to keep the conversation focused on Voter ID and off the subject of RCV and those RCV enabled voting machines.
