current fortune 500 CEOs are on the government dole one way or another and therefore are easily persuaded to adhere to the gov’s agenda. Pretty darn sure that’s a core feature of fascism.
Great synopsis. I remember when it seemed as if all of the CEOs of airline companies were ex-pilots or astronauts. I worked for an engineering firm that was run for years by an engineer and did quite well. Then they put it in the hands of a financial doofus and the company tanked and got swallowed up.
The Francisco d’Anconia’s speech on money is still one of the best passages I’ve read in any book. Here’s a link to the full speech:
John Galt ping.

Bumping your plug. Fantastic companion book.
Very well stated.
Closer to George Orwell!
I trust I can do the same when I am 53.
Great book that really explains how and why a country can lose it all but the hero, John Galt, was a selfish coward!
He cut and ran to his gulch and talked other selfish cowards to cut and run too.
We true Americans are going to stand and fight these tyrannical bastards like our ancestors did...here, on our own ground...because it’s our ground!
“When people decide to remove themselves from a game they see as rigged in favor of those far less deserving it is an indication that at some point even Atlas will shrug and let the world fall.”
I ‘removed myself from the game’ in 2016 at age 56. After the Army, a long stint in Construction Management, and then almost two more decades managing multi-million dollar firms, I felt that I had contributed MORE than enough to enriching others, while my own tax dollars went to support the non-contributors to basically ANYTHING that makes America great.
I haven’t given up all hope, but I no longer give a rip on so many levels and on so many issues. And that’s a d@mn shame. Because, as you know, *I* have all of the answers!
*SMIRK*
Mother Government? Just leave me alone. I’ve gone as Galt as I can, for now. ;)
66 here and retired
Last month.
Ready for the
“Final Chapter.”
The Good Lord ain’t
Done with me Yet and
I’m sure it’ll be
A Wild Ride!
I have your book, but I’ve never been able to read the whole of “Atlas Shrugged.” You guys also mention the difficulty of reading the complete novel. Is there a good abridged edition that you might recommend? Not a “Readers Digest” version but a version that follows the important points made in your book?
Also are you Tim Curry or the other guy? You don’t have to answer... I’m just curious. The name Tim Curry brings to mind the Hollywood actor with all kinds of associations, e.g., Frank-N-Furter. And I doubt very much you are that actor.
I as well purchased the book when it was new.
I ended up giving it to my son who lives in another state. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my purchase included a Kindle version. I ended up with a version as did my boy. Sweet.
Where is Galt’s Gulch?
Don’t you understand? They’re above the truth. Here are their rules:
1. Truth is whatever serves the Party.
2. If you repeat something often enough, it becomes true.
3. If the facts contradict the narrative, the facts lie.
Yeah, I have the Kindle version. Good price you can’t go wrong.
There’s an audio version read by Edward Hermann which is very good.
2 more years to early retirement.
Not feeling like producing much, at this point. Why should we.
Heading to Florida to offset the anti Americans from New Jersey and New York.
