Drum circles on Friday nights are a thing.

It does sound like Seattle or Portland...

North of Gwinnett County, along the I -85 corridor, traveling up to and through South Carolina.

Greenville, SC is still ok.

Biggest problems with the South right now is all the companies moving down there, bringing their sh*tty liberal employees with them and the fact that NONE of the county commissions, city councils, zoning boards, etc, seem to be able to say, Slow Down(at least), if not, STOP. All they’re seeing is $$$$$ with the increased tax revenues and subdivisions. Of course, most of that being done so they can sell off their families land and maybe retired to Reynolds Plantation or possibly, even, St Simons, while they leave behind a train wreck.

So many small towns in Georgia are in the process of getting crushed and most of the residents don’t even know how bad they’ve been sold out.

My daughter and her husband (newlyweds) just relocated there a month ago. She had a terrible time finding an apartment.

Her husband likes it better than she does, I think. She always mentions the homeless, and lots of them walk around with golf clubs as weapons.
She lives south of the downtown area, closer to Biltmore village. Not as many freaks there, I guess.

Feel free to PM me.

Thank you for the very informative post...My daughter noted the apartments issue—hard to find and expensive. She was looking in Biltmore area...

News about homeless arming themselves with golf clubs...

Thanks for the offer for further info...

Interesting, my friend’s sister lives outside of Greenville...It is a rural country subdivision with large 1+ acre lots.

No, you were not the rude one...
Sorry if I didn’t make that clear.

Term usage may be a regional thing...My millennial daughter was not familiar with the Urban Dictionary definition, and I had not heard it until so many wise or wise-cracking Freepers posted.

Uncle. I had the mods change it so it would not be a distraction to obtaining the information my daughter was seeking.

Gee I thought their relocation was screwing up the states near California...Had no idea they were moving cross country.

Well, one of my students went to HAVANA for her senior high school trip, if that is any indication of the political atmosphere.

Yikes!

“Bentonville?

The CCP’s North American economic headquarters?”

Yup, the same.

Bentonville and Rogers have the world headquarters of 3 big companies. JBHunt, Tyson and Walmart.

The city knows that if anything happens to Walmart, we’re done. So the city began to act about 15 years ago.

Walmart also knows that if they don’t keep the area self-sustaining, no one else will move here either. So Walmart required (Although it’s been recently overturned for ECommerce in response to Amazon) all of their vendors to open a brick and mortar office in Bentonville that employs at least 6 human beings.

So every single company in the world has some sort of presence here. Hershey’s employs about 200 people here. Clorox has a large facility. Glad has a huge plant that employs almost 100 people. We also have the world headquarters of Daisy air rifle.

Tyson and other competing chicken and protein providers maintain farms and facilities throughout the area that employ more than 50,000 people throughout NW AR. Even logistics have a major independent presence here to provide trucking and cargo for all of these companies.

So yes. Walmart is based here. No one minds because it IS a successful “mom and shop” to the area because Sam roamed these streets in his old Ford Truck. People knew him. His kids are just horrible but who has had kids take over for a company and be good people?

Bentonville is trying very hard to NOT make Walmart the only thing here in town. They are attracting a lot of new business and people into the area with very nice museums, galleries, and hundreds of miles of bicycle trails (People come from all over the world to ride these trails. It’s totally mind blowing)

I’ve lived across the country and have been in the “world headquarters of such and such” and seen that the whole area is ill-prepared for lay offs, suffering the brain drain or worse - company closure causing the death of a city.

Bentonville doesn’t follow this trend. It has it’s own unique problems - But overall it’s a great place to live.

Some of those problems are the INSANE sexual deviancy here. I mean it’s seriously the biggest hobby here. As an uber driver all I did was drive deviants from house to house for orgies, 3 ways, hookers and blow. The people here are the worst aspect.

Oh, and Walmart DOES employ mostly Indian labor here in town. When they have a job opening, they need about 1000 hires and you simply can’t fill that number of positions with local talent. TATA is setup here and all they do is ship Indian labor here, from India. It’s maddening because they bring with them their culture which is simply the worst that the human race has to offer. Snotty, arrogant, drug addled caste-society @$$holes with 0 respect for anyone or anything. And they are incredibly racist. Spit on those people.

Under Trump and at the beginning of the China flu (Remember.. we KNEW from day one that it was purposefully brought here from China) Walmart put out an immediate “all hands on deck” effort to bring in every single Made in the US product they could. But the moment Biden got into office they were assured that China would still be available for their slave labor and junk supply.

Under Trump this place was shaken up. Walmart was really reaching out for any life preserver to get more US made stuff in it.

With every single problem (Every. Single. Problem.) I find in the US I can track it’s source to the government. Every problem. President Trump started to change that and the crooked government had to step back in and keep their positions as the leaders of misery.

So you are right - Walmart, the kids, and China are centered here. But also remember my points. Walmart was a mom and pop operation in Bentonville until Sam shook hands with the Northern Chinese Military (Norinco) to get rich off the labor of slaves on the other side of the globe.

None of these people are good, but that doesn’t change my opinions. NW AR is still a good choice for a young conservative.

Is she a radical, Leftist, hipster, Trust Fund kid or retiree from Atlanta, Charlotte, West Coast? If so, then it would be perfect for her.
~~Uh that would be a “no” on all the above.

Some said enforcement of the citywide lighting ordinance, intended to lessen light pollution, went too far.

Several area businesses were given 30 days to remove patio lighting, including so-called “bistro lights,” or face fines of $100 per day, leaving customers and servers in the dark, they said.

I suggested to my daughter to watch a town meeting or two of wherever community she is seriously considering.

Thank you for the information.

My daughter lived down there for a summer. Nice people. Nice area. But it was pretty left leaning. That didn’t matter to my daughter.

Just wondering how internet is in the smaller surrounding communities...Daughter is working on MS—needs it for school ...eh as well as social stuff ;)

When we go to Sevierville, TN, internet is fine at most places...but we read some of the surrounding communities of Ashville don’t have dependable high-speed internet.

I have family in Asheville proper, and as many here have already said, it has gone very, very blue and very libtard.

That's the downside.

The upside is, that if you look at insurance risk tables, the general area encompassing NE Alabama, Eastern Tennessee, Northern GA and the western Carolinas is among the safest places to be.

Generally speaking, you're far enough south to avoid severe ice and snow storms. You're far enough inland to avoid severe hurricane effects. You're hilly enough to allow heavy rains to drain quickly (although there is some risk of flooding in lower areas). The hills and relatively cooler temps at higher Appalachian altitudes do not lend themselves particularly well to tornadic activity, and (again) generally speaking, the population is rural enough to insulate from major riots, civil disturbances and other disruptions that would arise from collapse of major urban centers.

On your daughter... depends on how tough she is. Is she a tip of the spear kind of gal? If so, going is an option. If she bends easily, don’t. It is a den of thieves, liars, perverts and other miscreants, and that is just going to be at her workplace. Even if she is diamond hard it will be tough to come out of there unscathed.

If she is single, don’t go no matter what. If her husband / boyfriend is weak in any way, ditto.

If she is unsure in any way, don’t go.

Many other fish in the sea. It is not like there are more workers than jobs. She can find a great job anywhere by merely wanting to work.

“Gee I thought their relocation was screwing up the states near California...Had no idea they were moving cross country.”

My wife came up with an apt description of how these liberals went up and down the coast to across America.

They apparently had an “underground railroad advice system” telling them were to relocate.

“NONE of the county commissions, city councils, zoning boards, etc, seem to be able to say, Slow Down(at least), if not, STOP. All they’re seeing is $$$$$ with the increased tax revenues and subdivisions.”

That is occurring all over California as basically every new home buyer from California or where ever will lose the Prop 13 tax protection on the “new” homes they purchase.

Many of those homes were bought originally from 100k to 250K, and now they are being sold from a million up. For many new buyers, Dec’s property tax bills will be astronomical.

Not sure how familiar you are with Ashville; however, it is just plain good advice...
