Even though I'm a metal-head, I have a Yuge soft-spot for 80s pop music. This is one of my favorites.

Two of my favorites from back then are
“Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go?” from Soft Cell.

“Won’t You Take Me To Funkytown?” by Lipps Inc.

Yeah I never was big on One Thing Leads to Another but I like some others. I was ok with stuff played on the radio and a friend in FL played one of their albums pretty loud at his house and it was very well produced, had depth musically and an original sound.

I like a lot of different music for the music. I rarely “connect” to the lyrics though. Maybe a little when I was younger like most people.

Me as well. Except country. And rap. And most jazz. And scream-o. And speed metal.

It’s crazy how ‘80s pop has taken over. My city has a radio station that plays nothing but ‘80s music. I listen to it all the time. Every song is great, and a nostalgia trip. I hear ‘80s music all the time at the grocery store and just about every other store in ambience as I do my shopping. Eighties pop seems to have become the “consensus” music of our time.

By the way, the whole album (”Reach the Beach”) is good.

Years ago, I was at a place where someone played Eninem’s 8 Mile album/soundtrack. It was creative and well produced. Not a style of music I like though.

I like a few country songs, jazz is boring, rap no. Bluegrass yes, classic and progressive rock yes. Getting burned out on most music because most of the new stuff sucks.

My older sister was into punk rock but I was never real big on it. Most of it was simplistic. The Cure that as a guy I know said, Look’s more like the disease, was odd but had good melodies, rhythm and guitar work. Just don’t look at them LOL. Ran across a live video and they were good players. Not big on the vocalist’s style. KISS started that makeup/costume stuff.

One of my personal '80s faves:

Black Velvet by Alannah Myles

Remake in metal by Leo Moracchioli
