Last week, the star made headlines when she wrote an op-ed for MarketWatch in which she suggested that the American flag be redesigned, as the current design has become "tattered, dated, divisive, and incorrect," alleging that it has "replaced" the confederate flag as a symbol of racism and hate.
Reactions to the "I Try" singer's suggestion were mixed, but certainly caused a stir on social media, and now, in an interview with TMZ, Gray has continued to defend her criticism and expanded on her call for a redesign.
She began the interview on Tuesday by once again explaining that it was the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol following the election of Joe Biden that sparked her sentiments.

This “star” is being given an embellishment meant to inflate her importance far beyond real accomplishment.

The American Flag is a symbol of all that is right with America, burning it or trampling it cannot diminish that.
Well I just say that if any citizen of this country cannot honor the flag of this country and what we know it stands for then they certainly don’t belong here.....and that IS the it of it. So their obvious solution is go where they can be comfortable with other like mindedness......there’s plenty of choices.

The most I know of her is that she had a popular song or two about 20 years ago, and played a human stereotype in the film ππ³π’πͺπ―πͺπ―π¨ ππ’πΊ, also about 20 years ago. Beyond that, nada. I think she’s just doing it for attention, but at the same time legitimately believes it.
It’s confusing.

Thirteen stripes representing the thirteen original colonies. White represents America’s pure intentions, those of God. Red for the blood spilled for freedom. White stars on an azure field representing each of the several states of the union.

What is confusing about this?
1. Thirteen stripes represent the original 13 colonies
2. Fifty stars represent the current 50 states
3. The color red symbolizes strength and valor
4. The color white symbolizes purity and innocence
5. The color blue symbolizes vigilance, perseverance, and justice
