“There a three questions that I think would destroy most of the arguments on the left. The first is, ‘Compared to what?’ The second is, ‘At what cost?’ And the third is, ‘What hard evidence do you have?’”
“Much of the social history of the Western world, over the past three decades, has been a history of replacing what worked with what sounded good. In area after area—crime, education, housing, race relations—the situation has gotten worse after the bright new theories were put into operation. The amazing thing is that this history of failure and disaster has neither discouraged the social engineers nor discredited them.”
“The assumption that spending more of the taxpayers’ money will make things better has survived all kinds of evidence that it has made things worse.”
“Most people living in officially defined poverty in the 21st century have things like cable television, microwave ovens and air-conditioning. Most Americans did not have such things, as late as the 1980s. People whom the intelligentsia continue to call the ‘have-nots’ today have things that the ‘haves’ did not have, just a generation ago.”
“Elections should be held on April 16th – the day after we pay our income taxes. That is one of the few things that might discourage politicians from being big spenders.”

For later
Thomas Sowell is one of the most brilliant persons in the world.
I just purchased this t-shirt a few months ago:
He actually just speaks of commen sense. Commen sense is brilliant these days of days.
Love that guy.
There should be an “o” instead of an “e”
Everyone needs to read Thomas Sowell.
Knew what you meant...:)
Thomas Sowell really disliked DJT at first. But after seeing him in action and the incredible results he delivered, he recanted.
It took him a while to catch on. He was out there calling Trump’s “trade war” (false terminology) “an utter disaster” back in 2018. At least he did say “Joe Biden must not become president” last year.
A truly brilliant guy! It’s NOT about the color of your skin! It’s about wither or not your brain works right. His brain worked extraordinarily! I admired him!
There are definitely a number of people who split from that group and realized that they were following a wrong power. Good Lord! Some of the things I’ve done... The notion that I was NEVER mistaken is absurd. Face it, part of being human is that sometimes you are “wrong”. It is ALSO a trait of those who have matured properly. I believe that is where “forgiveness” is rooted. Katie Pavlich, Glenn Beck, Dana Loesch... They eventually saw the light as opposed to kristol’s globalist whoredom. People make mistakes, some big, some small. But when you’ve been a LEO and seen a sea of people with screwed up lives because they made some mistakes. My tendency is to forgive, turn the other cheek, hope and pray for them, NOT wish them ill.
I agree. Without repentance, there is no fixing mistakes in your life.
I would have preferred Sowell would have done it sooner, though; he was a little too ready in 2018 to condemn Trump on the “trade war” which was not.
Everybody loves Thomas Sowell, but bring up price gouging without mentioning him and see what happens. Some will find they don’t agree with him as much as they think they do.

Good point. So you can imagine what it took to change his mind. From most of his critiques, of President Trump, I think it was more of a personality thing. Sowell is very refined in his intellect and tastes, a real Marquesse of Queensbury Rules kind of guy. And, it doesn’t seem to be an affectation. Whereas DJT is a bit of a chameleon with the persona of a true statesman, such as in his magnificent speech in Poland, and equally at home as a street brawler which is all that the media ever presented. His persona, through the media lens, is probably like fingernails on a chalk board.
But he chose not to be a never-Trumper and even came out of retirement to get much more politically active in support of Trump’s policies, though I don’t recall him ever saying what a fine, upright person President Trump is. However, I think he is way more upright and refined than the media or leftists will ever acknowledge.
....” His brain worked extraordinarily! I admired him!”.....
Me too! Still do.
Walter Williams was another good mind. OH! But he’s (black, african american, colored...) SO! That can’t be so! What a crock of manure. Both of them are fine men with gifted minds! The color of their skin doesn’t mean squat! I’d be thrilled to go on a fishing trip with them, and I don’t even like to fish!
Unfortunately there’s not many great thinkers like theirs.....it takes fortitude and work to get where they have...too few blacks care to do the work.
Thomas Sowell is just plain comfortable to listen to...and all the better because he knows what he’s talking about.
