Stimulytpo! Job Openings Soar To All-Time High 9.3 Million As “Not In Labor Force But Want A Job” Declines Creating Gap Of 2.64 Million Excess Openings
Confounded Interest ^ | 06/08/2021 | Anthony B. Sanders

A picture is worth a thousand words.

The good news? Job openings soared to an all-time high of 9.3 million. The bad news? There are 2.64 million more job openings than people who want a job.

It would seem that employers will have to pay a premium to attract those who claim to want to work, but aren’t in the labor force.

Why is Powell And The Fed keeping so much monetary stimulus going? And why does Biden want to pump $8 trillion into an already overheated economy?

Biden, Democrats and The Federal Reserve has gone nuts. There is already excess liquidity in the market and Biden/Democrats want to create jobs ... when there is already an excess of2.64 million jobs.

I have a highly qualified daughter who can only get an interview for monkey work, despite the many companies saying they are hiring. They may be hiring, but they only want a narrow set of people.

Lots of jobs out there and most, even the most basic jobs, are offering at least $15.00 an hour. It’s a great time to get hired or to move on to a better job.

I’m no economist, but it seems they are trying to drive inflation higher in order that more taxes will ultimately come back to the Government. I have a son-in-law who has fallen for the line that in order for minimum wage to truly be adjusted for inflation to date from the early 1970’s it should be $27/hr, and that $15/hr is just a start. He doesn’t understand that by such logic, a starting engineer should be making 250k/yr - everything just scales up. We’re in for a rough couple of years if we can at least get the House back and maybe a little sanity.

"There are 2.64 million more job openings than people who want a job. "

Ergo, a flood of immigrants is needed to close the gap! (EXTREME SARCASM)

Go onto your local job board and look at the jobs.

Employers are so wildly specific that they weed out many qualified people.

They expect entry level folks to have a masters.

Of course, if you are a white male over 50….forget it.

There are a lot of “openings” but employers are extremely picky.

“There are 2.64 million more job openings than people who want a job.”

BS

Very few of these jobs are middle class jobs that you can actually support a family on.

You are dead-on.

I'm white, early 50's, and a man. Employers all over my area are begging for help, but someone in my demographic group need not apply. How desperate will they have to get before they will give me a serious look? I'm just looking for full-time work, not a CEO-ship. Despite recently getting my degree in business and having a wealth of experience, I'm toxic.

The moment I see the head of HR is a woman, I know I'm screwed.

For factory, retail, and low-skill labor, there are heaps of jobs out there at great rates. Part of the reason for that is the companies looking for those workers as the pandemic winds down are the same companies that pushed those workers to the limit or furloughed them during the pandemic and with stimmy checks and unemployment, the prospect of not working is better than the prospect of working. The same companies acting all happy to give out $20/hour now will soon be the companies looking to cut jobs and pay or add robots to eliminate jobs when the economy tightens up.

The skilled white collar labor market has had the opposite market pressures. All those office drones across the country sent home to work for a year are now competing for jobs across geographic boundaries, so employers can pick and choose knowing there is another qualified person coming along any minute now. A lot of those jobs are also being shown as redundant, so as the labor market tightens up, it's going to get more and more challenging for a large segment of this job segment to feel confident and satisfied in their jobs.

I know what you mean, I'll be 55 next month, although most people think I'm 35 to 45 thanks to Mom's side where we tend to look younger, but still, it is tough. We, as a nation at large, have opened up a Pandora's box, on one hand, you can't blame people for making a decision to stay on unemployment if they make more but on the other hand, it does not last forever, idle hands are the Devil's Workshop and all it does is keep people addicted to government. I admit I was grateful for it last year, it helped me take care of things the car needed like a tune-up, timing belt change and a new exhaust connection to the manifold. During tax season, I work as a tax professional, but most of the year, I Door Dash for a living, I know it is part me where as an independent businessman, I can control what I do and when I do it, I have Asperger's most likely (in the late 1960's and early 1970's, I was tested where I was on the autism spectrum) and it is my way of "going Galt" over the recent election and the way things are going. I know there are many jobs out there but where it is partially bogus us like some say here, employers want entry skills where you need a master's degree, they are narrow in their selection and if I may say so, in may circumstances, I'm the wrong color, race and, um, age. I've been promised stability on jobs in the past but there were times I was punk'd and they did not last. Also, I can't put up with the politics at where you work, just can't take the BS anymore. As long as I can pay the rent and bills and put a little away each time, I'm happy at what I do and hope it stays that way.

Replacing a 34 yr old traffic mgr, ( who took 3 months leave for he and his wife’s child birth, came back for a week and gave 2weeks notice) with a 60 year old white guy that starts next week.
I’ll take older people over younger all day long.

The truth is the people at the top, and major bureaucracies, have soaked up most of the inflation-adjusted increase in GDP (not already accounted for by population growth, that is), since 1970/1971.

No need to thank me, I’ve been in business a long time(like really long) and I don’t follow trends,or do what everybody else is doing.

My brother just got flown 1/2 way across the country to interview for a non-technical job.
Made him an offer the same day and he took it.
My brother in law says they would hire just about anyone for his company but they can’t find anyone who isn’t living off Gov checks.

The jobs are out there and lots of them.
Consider looking in a different town.
